don't get me wrong, i LOVE my car, but the paint is :censored: me right off now!

as you probably all know by now im getting the front bumper resprayed, but i cannot for the life of me find a paint match, the ovni yellows i keep getting mixed at various places do not match the metal parts of the car AT ALL and the shade is pretty much the same as the crapply painted front bumper now which is a total disaster. i'm trying to get the fuel cap off to get a paint match (see other thread ;)) i know yellow cars are a b@stard to match up, but this is ridiculous!

is there some kind of different process other than grey plastic primer - white plastic primer - yellow basecoat - laquer that needs to be done, one bodyshop (who quoted me £500 for a bumper painting [:@]) said summat about a 3 stage yellow paint process, is that bull or does he have a point?

at a mega loss as to what to do as the car looks terrible and a full respray is out of the question, just wondered what you bodyshop lads do!

I've got yellow and have had a partial respray on the off side.
The bumpers (plastic) and the wings (metal) did not match 100% when the car was bought new in 2006 and the respray failed to correct the problem.
I think you'll have to accept that a perfect match is impossible or so expensive that it's not worth doing or out of your price range.
Sorry I can't give you better news.
Regards Guy.

even my silver is not a perfect match and plastic is always going to look diffrent to metal painted anyway

The bumpers are painted separately from the rest of the car at the manufacture stage.

My crono yellow one's the same. It even still has the stickers on the bottom. I just keep telling myself that's the way the car was made, and just live with it!

Ovni vs Trophy- yellow

Ovni is base coat + Lacquer
Trophy was 2-pack single system

We can use caps lock mate, just normally regarded as poor etiquette to type in full uppercase on bulletin boards, chat rooms, newsgroups and the likes. Some see it as shouting.

I stay in Beith, North Ayrshire.

I get around a bit though... work in the city centre and my girlfriend stays in Paisley.

:)

Ive got the same colour and after 7 years the paintwork looks rubbish, the plastics seem as they from a different car. Was looking to replace the bumpers with the facelift ones and decided against it as the paintwork will just look wierd.
