sorry if this has already been discussed i had a quick browse and couldnt find anything.

I am ordering my Ibiza Cupra very soon and was wandering about the aditional "racing brake" upgrade. has anybody got this option and any feedback on it at all?

I believe it has been said that these brakes are not worth it if you are thinking of tracking your Cupra. Do seem a lot of money as an optional, do High Spec not do a kit around the same price?

hmm maybe i will re=consider this then i believe it is a £1175 option!!! it does look good though with the seat sport on them and the adition of the 4 pot caliper i think it is.

I do love the way on forums when one person says something its taken as gospel.

Do you want to have to warm your brakes up before they are at their most effective.... No.. you'll be wanting road pads..

Do you want to go on track have less brake fade from overheating... Yes...Fit race spec pads..

OEM disks and pads fitted to the so called "racing brakes" are for road use this does not make the brakes bad. They are phenomenal for day to day use. I have so much confidence in them and they work perfectly from cold.

You wanna do a track day.. Get some lovely squeeky mintex 1144's or some Forodo DS's and i'm sure they will be more than adequate pads.

In hard day to day use I have experienced ZERO brake fade.

I had them on my mk4 cupra and loved them. I love them even more in my lighter mk5. Oh and they also look amazing, you also get the added bonus of a spare alloys and painted rear calipers to match.

they are the same discs as the audi tt quattro, as far as i understand their like 320mm discs ?
does any1 actualy see a good enough gain to say their worth it ?.

I have the brake upgrade and I am loving them too, in day to day use they are perfect as I test drove a demo with the standard set up and the brakes were good but the difference on the race brake option is so much better for sure.

Imo the best choice is to buy the old S3 312 brakes, second hand will cost around 250 euros + 100something for the ferodo pads.
Personally i would not buy the 4piston seat sport. They definatelly are not racing brakes and for that money you can buy brembo brakes.

the only thing if i buy the brembo brakes this will invalidate the manufacturers warrenty!! i believe this is probably the reason why the seat sport ones are priced as they are.

Without being 100% on this, i believe its so expensive because the 4piston dont fit on the cupra alloys, so they need to fit the 5 spikes alloys instead(the one boca has).

Ah I take it you have tried both.. You do realise they are just rebranded AP racing 4-pots. AP racing is part of brembo..

If you can afford them go for it, I'd rather have them fitted at the factory with the other bonus's than mess about afterwards. Since when have optional extras not been a rip off??
