Radio, Telephone confusion

I have a 2000 Seat Ibiza and for some reason when i have the radio on, it says telephone instead of the radio channel, frequency.

As i don't have the car manual i'm not sure how to change to show the channel, frequency.

So any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I thought things like that were enabled when the correct pins were connected on the wiring plug at the back of the radio - is there a car kit installed, or was there?

There's no car kit installed. When i first turn the radio it briefly shows the radio station, but then goes straight to saying telephone.

I'd be checking the plugs at the back of the radio, check nothing's shorted out. I'm pretty sure the telephone function is controlled by external input to the radio, rather than the radio itself.

Interesting, as Rich said, it sounds like the telephone interrupt.

There may have been a car kit fitted in the past and not removed correctly.

However, if it was receiving the telephone interrupt signal (from one of the pins on the rear connector) im pretty sure it would mute the radio.

Try removing the front fascia (2 screws underneath hold it in) - removing the radio unit disconnecting the cables - leave it for 10 mins or so before plugging it back in - the unit may-well be getting confused and may need a hard reset.

Thanks guys. I tried taking out all the plugs and leaving them out ten minutes, but that didn't work. I had 3 plugs at the top: blue, green and yellow.

So i tried 2 in at a time and found out that that when i left the blue plug out, the telephone message dissapeared.

So all sorted now. Thanks
