Oh and if you think the rattles are bad on the Mk3 Leon you should hear this Ibiza, it would seriously drive me insane, sounds as though the dash isn't bolted in. Maybe that's their plan give me a car with worse rattles than mine and they won't have to fix it.

Unusual...all my ibiza courtesy cars have been rattle free. The spongy brakes and lack of power however.....

Well that was a waste of a day, yep they made it worse. Got a call saying it was done and ready to collect "we have carried out the campaign for the rattles". Funny last time they said there was no outstanding campaign on the vehicle, still no sticker in boot to say it's been done though. Rattle in passenger door appears to have stopped, but the one in the drivers door is worse.

That's me finished with them now, going to follow the two posts on here arm myself with some sound deadening foam and some trusty old gaffer tape (that stuff repairs anything:D) and do it myself, take photos and write some instructions then send them to Seat so they can show the useless dealer how to sort it. To say I am a tad upset is an understatement, they have lost the service work and possibly a sale as well useless :censored::censored:

Does anyone know if there's a TPI for replacing the door seals on the SC 3dr model?

Got mine October last year and intend to get it serviced shortly but will have to take the day off work so want to get everything done in one trip!

I feel your pain mick_n3. I took mine to the dealer a few days ago who had the car for the day, and then told me that although they're aware of the campaign, my particular car is not covered under it. After pressing them a bit, they agreed to carry out the work anyway as both front door cards rattle like mad - but it's got to go in again for the work at the end of the month.

That's what they told me on first visit, this time they said they had done the campaign, but it is now worse, and they just don't seem interested, won't be using them again, going to sort rattles out myself and any service work will mean an 80 mile round trip. Won't be buying another, shame really as I like the car but aftersales service is a disgrace, it took 2 visits to put things right that should have been done on PDI.

after 4 days I already have a rattle, now on the 7th day it's even worse :( Seems to be coming from the N/S rear door. I had a Kia hire car for two weeks and never had one rattle - really disappointing.

My dealer have had the car on 5 or 6 different occasions to fix the rattling doors and it still rattles away on rough roads... The last attempt at least fixed the rattling side window and know I can use the SEAT sound system and not be afraid the doors might fall of...

Hi all,

This is my first post here. I've been lurking for a bit, but thought I'd register now as I ordered my first Seat on Saturday (a new Leon FR 5dr 1.4 TSI 150).

Anyway, as a couple of you have mentioned recalls to address rattling trim issues, I guess this means that Seat have acknowledged this as a common problem with the model. Does anyone know if this means that from now on all new Leon's will come with this 'fix' already done as standard?

Sorry - I know it's a bit daft to concern myself with a problem I might not even have, on a car I haven't even got yet, but I was just curious!

I believe later cars are better built, with less creaking from the interior! Mine is built 2013-04 and a car built in the beginning of 2014 that I tested felt much more solid...

Thanks for the reply - that's good to know. I did get the impression that everything was fairly well put together when I took one for a test drive, but a test drive is obviously very different to driving a car day-in day-out.

Looking forward to getting it now anyway - been told it should be delivered by the end of the month :).

Just a quick post to maybe offer encouragement to those in despair!
I have an FR purchased in May this year which after a few hundred miles developed a (admittedly mostly not too intrusive) rattle in the nearside door. I took it back to the dealer where I bought it who said two of their "technicians"had taken it out and could hear no rattle. Basically translated as "we've had your money, now b****r off and stop bothering us." They seemed totally unaware that there was ever any problem with these issues.
I took the car last week to another dealer in another town. Even though not a customer, they took pains to investigate, said they'd identified the problem and would get the parts from Seat and do both doors! They immediately made an appointment to have the car in this week to carry out the work! Absolutely different customer approach! I would say further that the VIN on the car was actually outwith the range of the identified problem.
Guess where my custom is going in future!
So, if things are not being dealt with, get on to other dealers, Seat and anyone you think can help. You've spent a lot of money and deserve satisfaction!

Any idea what they replaced? My rear near side door is quite annoying after the 4th day of ownership - perfect other than this.

Can´t do that as it was a car I tested before I bought my car...

Still my car, built 2013-04 with a little over 2100 miles on the clock when I bought it, rattled a fair bit more than the 2014-built car with over 6000 miles...

I had enough. traded my Leon in for an Audi A4, rattle free motoring for me now. Such a shame as the dealers were really good with me. Shame SEAT still have interior quality issues, a great car otherwise.

Thanks everyone for all the advise over the year I had the car. Good luck to you all and I really hope your cars get sorted.

Peace.

I just logged into this site to ask how many people were experiencing rattles and other noises from their Leon's - I just purchased (1 month ago) a December 2013 Leon SC FR with then 2k miles - the dash rattles, doors rattle and when breaking I get a knocking noise which seems worse (or I may be imagining it) with a full tank of fuel - I'm already getting annoyed with it all and didn't have the best purchasing experience either - I pretty much lost all excitement of having a new car from the very start, now this! It's booked in but reading most of this thread I'm not holding out much hope!!

I purchased a new Ibiza Cupra in 2002, that wasn't the best experience either... Thought after 12 years there would have been some improvement!

I only ever buy VAG cars (with a couple of exceptions) and none have been like this..

I have a 1970 VW Camper, I expect rattles from that, not from an almost new Leon...

I guess I'm not going to gain any more knowledge from this thread, just hope my Dealer gets it sorted with minimal hassle.

I have been considering my options with the car already, not a position I wanted to be in only a month down the line...

The saga of rattles continues, along with the rattles in the doors over the last week the passenger seat back started to rattle sounds a though it's falling off, and today another rattle from around the radio has started. Build quality really sucks, shame as the rest of the car is ok. Any offers on a 3 month old 184 fr
