I have just bought a Seat Cupra T and it seems to be in pretty good nick...

One problem has occured and not sure if anyone else has had this problem and knows what it is?

When I start the engine (tends to be when the engine is cold), it starts up ok but then there is a rattling noise coming from underneath the bonnet and the exhaust shakes from side to side. When I pull away it feels like it is going to stall until I get up to about 3,000 revs and then the turbo kicks in and it pulls away well and the noise and rattling goes away...

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

I have the uprated bushes fitted to the dog bone mount on my LCR, this often feels like this but with no more noise
When you start the car and leave to idle open the bonnet and see if the noise is more of a ticking rather than a rattling, this could be the carbon emissions thingy
Also the rattling could be a loose heat plate on the exhaust, try and get under the car when idling and see if you can pin point the noise

other than this if you leave the engine to warm up stood in one point, when the engine has warmed up if the rattle has gone it could be your cat is broke coz thats what mine does

hi guys,

just had a look under the bonnet cos the shaking problems have got a little worse. Tried to pull away the other day and I was in gear and the revs were increasing fine but the car wouldnt move. eventually after a bit of revving it pulled away. Just looked under the bonnet and the whole engine is making sort of a ticking noise and then it sounds like its gona stall and then fires up again.

any ideas anyone? if all else fails I will just take it to the garage...
