Rear courtesy light bulbs?

Ok, I need to replace both my rear bulbs, I know they are difficult to get at and are a weird size, I'd like to replace them with white LED's. Tried a search but didn't find much info, anyone done this and can help ... what type of bulbs are they and how to replace them?

No I don't think they're the same unless someone knows different.
If you look at the pic of the bulb (post #18), that's how they come in a kind of grey plastic base. That is not part of the OE unit at all.

post 18 on that link Rob, I did mine this weekend and yes they are a bit dim!!

Yep dimmer than standard but now match the other interior lights. No-one's ever in the back anyway

Can't find a pic of what one looks like after it's been modified to fit? What does the red line mean, how much do you cut?

Rob,

You just need to trim vertically where the red line is so you have less of a lip.

In the holder there is only enough gap for the top part of the trimmed r shape to fit in before it can be turned to meet the contacts. Just trim 1mm by 1mm till it fits in the holder and you can twist it.
Don't take too much off at once
