rear view cam

i had one in my black seat.
i made a hole in the boot by the leon sign and connected it with a pioneer deh6600. so everytime i put it in reserve it would show up on the screen :)

yessar kd ive got a camera at home with a pioneer avh p3100 and in the process of wiring it all up just wanted to know what wires i would need to connect and wear for the camera to come on automatically for reverse.

I decided against the camera. I got the parking dynamics pd1. It has the green to red warning bar and audiable beep. I mounted the bar on the inside top centre of my rear window. I like it because the sensor fits behind the bumper so no drilling required and looks completely oem.

cheers for the link all sorted now i decided to just get in there and have a play i wired it into the reverse lights and a constant 12v feed so its auto for reverse and you can also turn on manually :)

can someone give me some advise i have an after market pioneer headunit and bought a reversing camera for it wired to reversing light and with ignition on works perfect but when i start the engine the picture breaks up i have a 57 plate mk2 leon

thanks in advance

id say some sort of voltage regulation problem, flick the camera to a constant live rather than ignition/switched live see if that helps?

unless its a grounding/shorting issue???

Hi guys i'm trying to do the same thing but need to access the reverse feed, where is it ? do i have to run a wire all the way to the boot lid and to the lights themselves or is there another way.

From memory the reverse feed was a blue wire behind the left hand side of the boot panel (The side that has the boot light and 12v feed)

I've managed to fit one to my 1.9TDi.

Found one that fitted as a replacement to one of the rear number plate lights (it added a LED light too).

Then ran the cable into a replacement rear mirror with a LCD screen.

After that fitted it so once the car is put into reverse, the LCD screen comes on and the camera appears.

Have been VERY useful as judging rear distances in a Mk1 is quite difficult.

If you could like to know what I bought, drop me a PM and I can try and help :)

cheers for your help guys, i got it all fitted yesterday in-between the rain storm.

Agreed!! I just did the same with a 2DIN OEM Android Unit. 20 quid for the camera off of eBay, the input is a 12+ signal cable and RCA jack that goes into the head unit. You can get the leads off of the rear left panel: under the trim where the seat belt is located - black connector - ground is black/brown, 12+ when the rear lights come on when you reverse, blue/black. Used 3m self crimping connectors and included the 12+ signal cable that you need for the head unit as well. The RCA and 12+ signal wires run along the headliner and down the A pillar. Very happy with the result.

Hello DJVIX.

Just wondering which android unit did you have on your mk1?

I'm "googling" for a unit like that and already seen some with android 4.4.4 and 5.1.

Is your unit stable and reliable? The sound output is same as stock radio?

Thanks

Hi,

It's a company called joying. Runs kit kat 4.4.4. Sometimes needs a reset but their support gave me links to an update so I'll let you know how that goes. Sound is really good and so is the interface.

That's the brand i'm looking at on the web= Joying. Seems pretty good their product but I was afraid it come unstable after some time.
I'm glad its working fine for you. I'll keep watching for that upgrade to 5.1.

Thanks.

I've had it for about a month so I can't say anything about reliability yet but it works. Not sure about the lollipop update for that model.

It seems the upgrade its only available for specific models because hardware issues.

Do you use on radio GPS?

Thanks

The one I have does. Yes, I use radio GPS.

What map do you use? I'm aware that units come with Sygic.

The radio installation was plug & play with the unit VW harness?

I'm thinkin of going to a Joying unit too. There are others brands but I like the Joying support center.

Thanks
