Hi guys,

I was hoping people would share their experiences with dash cleaners on the mk3?

Anyone come across a good cleaner that doesn't leave a residue and matches the cars interior with no obtrusive gloss shine?

Thanks

Ricky

I use Autoglym vinyl and rubber care. Spray onto stockingette cloth then run into the dash. Leaves a great finish and as you rub it in its not very glossy so looks natural.

Meguiars Carpet and Interior Cleaner, leaves an OE Matt finish. Am also a fan of Autoglymn but this just pips it for me.

used this my god every thing was gloss black look not happy.

It you are going to use Autoglymn you are best off with the Interior Cleaner, (spray bottle)
rather than the Vinyl and Rubber care as way to glossy I agree.

You's mustn't have rubbed it in well enough if it was a glossy finish..... It certainly isnt 100% matt but as long as its rubbed in it looks clean and natural IMO.

I use a damp microfibre towel only most of the time. It lifts dust and dries within a few seconds. When I do my monthly detail I use Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer (around £10) to get the plastics and trim looking like new. It's really good stuff and lasts a fairly long time (I'm now on my third bottle, have used it for over a year). It doesn't leave any sort of finish; trim looks natural.

If you are like me and you like your leather steering wheel to feel like the day you bought the car, I only recommend steam. I've tried all sorts of leather cleaners and conditioners, sprays and wipes and none are more effective than steam. I've bought a steam cleaner now, but I used to fill a plastic jug with boiling water, soak a clean microfibre in it, put heavy duty waterproof gloves on, wring that microfibre out and wrap it around the steering wheel whilst wiping gently in the direction of the steering wheel. The steam opens the leather's pores and the dirt lifts straight out. It's a cheap and effective way to keep your steering wheel perfect.

Tried that once and the car smelled of chips for days.

I have used 303 Aerospace protectant on my last 5 cars. It stops dust adhereing isn't shiny and stops the dash fading and cracking. Compared to Autoglym Vinyl protectant this is matt, I know because I used to use AG before I found about this product.

I apply on a new car then once a year on the cars birthday :)

Don't believe the bad reviews on Amazon, I have used this on a BMW, Citroen, Vauxhall Corsa, Leon and a Zenos E10 and I will never use another plastic protector. Not near enough shine to use on tyre walls.
