but if they mean illegal as in not standard that basically rules out any modified car and we'd lose thousands of jobs, and that means I have to go get my car detuned ?

The debate really has to be about what is defined as illegal modification of the ECU. To be honest, I highly doubt a remap would fall under this. If it was, I'm sure the law would be far more specific about it, explaining what specifications cannot be changed.6.1.9 Engine performance:

Im sure it will pass fine, as with all other cars with a remap however this was what was mentioned in the new MOT testing guidelines (unsure how they will enforce it or even check as all the small garages aren't going to go fork out on software to read ecu's
