i have just enquired about getting mine done. i asked if they can switch it back and forth for me aswell i dont see the point in getting the sps switch as i will only switch it back when going in for servicing/work etc and my revo dealer is 1/4 mile away from my seat dealer which is handy to say the least! i did ask if the sps is discounted if purchased at the same time as the remap just waiting to hear back.

The SPS isn't discounted at the same time as purchasing unfortunately, it's still £149. Unless different dealers decide to a better offer i guess.

Just booked mine in 5 minutes ago for next Thursday :) £352 all in. They said it would take an hour and a half, which was a shock as i was under the impression it could be done in under 45 minutes.

Here is a copy of a PM I sent to Tilley1 which you may find useful when making your choice.

Yeah there are 4 different maps already on your ECU. The switch is used to change to each one. I dont know what your car will be set at. I'm guessing 95ron mode as the dealer won’t know you'll only be running the car on v-power they will cater for the lowest fuel quality.

If you switch to mode C the different map will use new timing and fuelling parameters (Not boost levels) to accommodate the higher quality more efficient combustion of the v-power fuel so will produce more power than you currently have.

You have two choices. Ask your dealer to swap you to mode C (they may have to ring revo for instructions) and save some money on the switch.

Or pay for the switch. Couple of examples of when you may need it:

I have used my switch this morning to turn off my map. No point having all the extra power in this weather.
If you are ever out on a journey and run out of fuel and for whatever reason can’t find v-power you will have to switch back to a different setting. If you have it set to mode C by your dealer and can’t find the correct fuel you run the risk of damaging your engine. 95ron on mode C could cause your engine to knock which is bad.

See i'm really tempted to save all the hassle and buy the switch at the same time, but seeing as i hadn't even budgetted for the map itself its quite a stretch to buy it as well. However with the 20% vat in Jan and the price going back up i will have near enough saved the same amount of money as the switch would cost..

I got mine at Gti Inters so cant comment on price but when I was asking Revo back in October 2009 this was the reply was RE cost:

The cost would be £399+VAT for the software, and the switch would be £49+VAT if purchased within 28 days of the software.

So your looking at £50 not £100+

That's odd, i posted a question within the Revo section on here and was told that it'd be the full price :S i'd have no problem buying it at that price!

An hour and a half????!!!!!! Shiiiiiaaaaaattttt, I am sure mine and Mardons was much quicker than that at inters.

Yeah it wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the fact i'm gonna have to sit there re-reading the autotrader mag they'll have over and over for all that time. Hopefully it'll be quicker than that as i then have to go over to another garage and have the bov spacer fitted.
