been searching through threads and looking on the various sites of remappers, before i got my car i was actually looking at jabbasport seeing what their figures were as my step dad has a 130BHP VW Bora and wanted to get it remapped, he still has not.

Anyway ive been reading threads and such as i said and im still undecided as to which place i should use, down to personal preference i know but seen as many ppl have had theirs remapped then im just trying to gauge a general view.

Ive got a FR TDI 130, Jabba site quotes 175 - 180BHP and 290 - 305 torque for the Stage 1 load and go generic

they also quote 181 - 194BHP and 310 - 329 torque for stage 2 custom rolling road remap.

Out of the two which would i be looking at? also with that amount of torque going off a few threads i have read, some ppl have raised issues about a clutch change due to this? ideally i wouldnt want to change it but if i have to then thats a different story. Also would the brakes need upgrading?

On a final note, is there any drawbacks to getting a remap done? anyone experienced any problems due to a remap? any more info ppl want to point out then feel free :D

Read peoples signatures mate, no need for a poll, this question has been asked hundreds of times since I registered 6 years ago, personal preference also only counts so much s not many peope have experience of havin multiple remaps at different times to compare.

Custom code.

has produced quite a few sub 15 sec 1/4 miles

nothing to do with a remap mate, all down to driver skill

been up against scobies at the Pod, and beat them....and they were pulling 16's!!! which proves the point that power is nothing without control

my personal preference - Jabba all day everyday

My choice would be Jabba. Honestly I would say at times their rollers are over reading on bhp as I've got the same result on other rollers which is not as high as jabbas but torque is spot on everytime.

They will most likely be remapping the gf's seat tdi when its got a few K's on the clock.

i would say CC even though i went for revo cos i got it very very cheap ;) peeps on here have used all of the above and afaik no one has had any problems or issues with their CC map tbh, plus their map is considered to be more clutch friendly than most as they try and keep the torque below that all important 300ft/lbs figure

so any torque above 300 would be either clutch problems or need an uprated clutch? I had a look at custom code website and there is different phases, phase one is generic or phase two is custom? which option is the one for me ? also has anyone used DMC Tuning which are the custom code suppliers in my area which is bedfordshire

custom-code for me as it is an increadibly smooth map and im dead happy with the way mine drives and also i can suprisingly see good mpg too if sensible :p

CC phase 1 will be for you, tis a generic map, phase 2 will require Front mount intercooler and uprated clutch, the standard clutch you have at the mo is rated to 300ft'lbs so something near that figure or over will need a uprated clutch to ideally

ah right okey dokey, so custom code phase one generic map reads figures of 270 - 280 torque, with the standard clutch im assuming this is fine,if near 300 liek u say or above then ide need to invest in a new clutch etc

yup spot on mate

so would that be the same for jabba then or totally different as jabba figures are quoted as 290 - 305 torque or could you infact specifiy you wanted lower torque

hmm not sure to be honest mate, but i would pressume you could ask for a weaker map to save on clutch wear, best to ring and ask mate, all depends on where you are what ya wanna pay, but the companies you listed have all got a good rep so the choice is yours. (sorry bout the Blind Date quote there )

nothing to do with a remap mate, all down to driver skill

Why thank-you :D

So basically the true drivers (the ones with skill!) all choose C-C.. got to tell you something surely :p

Nah, kiddin aside, and getting on to the note about the clutch, mines running C-C Phase 1. Ran a 14.7 down at the pod the other week, and is getting RR'd next month, but i expect 180bhp and 290lb/ft. My car is AS FAST as Mr OBD and has the exact same milage. Yet when he got his remap his clutch DID slip. Same map, same car, same milage, same year.. only difference driver. Its all on driving style. Basically he liked to give it some gas lower down and feel the torque push him back, whilst I revved mine higher, or dropped it down a gear to go... this means after 46,000 miles, with nearly 40,000 miles of C-C Phase 1 @ 290lb/ft I still am running my standard clutch, with NO HINT OF CLUTCH SLIP.

Yet, Mr OBD's was replaced circa 15k ago....

If you want a smooth, drivable remap which also pulls good performance, and doesnt overall effect mpg to any level worth moaning about, I would go C-C

Also hear they have a special offer on at the mo?

right, sounds fair enough to me, i did look at the site but dont see any signs of a special offer

I think the remap you choose could be influenced by what you want to pay for.
Rolling roads, induction kits and so on put the price up as does the brand name.

I had a remap from Chipboost. No rolling road, no induction kit and not a big name in the remap world.
Posted the ECU to James who did the work and the car was only off the road for 2 working days.
I paid 175.00 quid 18,000 miles ago and love the way the car performs.

See my avatar for power and torque figures. Clutch is factory standard and MPG is 56/57 most of the time.

Regards Guy.

Im on Custom Code 2; its my 3rd remap and its Great! I agree with Sisson and T. Spark, i think its a combination that CC buyers are great drivers and its the best map to have if you want smooth but aggressive power hike.
