Hello, after months of being off the road with a problem no one could diagnose, I finally fixed my car. So the dpf was gutted and egr blanked during that time so the next job was a remap.
After plenty of research and questions asked it was recommended to use kTune. So after contacting him off I went for the 4 hour drive. When I got there he first checked the car over, then we went for a drive while he monitored things, then the map went on and off we went for another drive. We spent a good 2 hours fine tuning it until he was happy and he knew I was happy. And what a difference it made! Felt like a completely different car, never expected it to make the difference it did! So I was/am very pleased with it. Well worth the 4 hour drive. Anyone needing or wanting a remap should definitely look at going to KTune.

Sorry for the long essay but I said I'd leave good feedback as I was very pleased with the whole process.

Just the type of place I'm looking for, any chance of an address or the website please mate. I only live in Sheffield so just up the road. Appreciate it thanks.

He only re-maps and I quote "a i only do custom but i also only work on the siemens ppd1.x ecu this is only the 2.0 tdi ecu on the the 170bhp engines

i stick to what im good at and have a fair bit of experience with this engine now

but i dont tune anything else other than this at the moment sorry"

He maps it to suit you. If you want the max, it's going to smoke a bit. I think the videos your talking about are of his passat which has been highly tuned (bigger turbo etc..) hence the smoke.

Kilner AKA K-Tune is a friend of mine who I met through SCN a few years ago when I had my PD170, at the time I had JBS (Custom Code) PPD PD170 software on mine. Jamie had his Golf PD170 done and said he felt it was poorly done.

We then went through a few different tunes betwen Kilner, WeeG and Me until both me and WeeG moved onto TFSI. After numerous different tunes on his PD170 with a hybrid he decided to brave it alone and has been very successful!

Kilner has since proved the doubters wrong that you cant produce more than 270nhp on stock PD170 injectors. He has had 300+ on a PD170 with stock injectors on a GTB turbo.

If I had a PD170 again he is the only place I would be getting mine done!

pd engine then. I'm north east based if anyone's intrested

i actually tune for less smoke and i like a light haze at most

but a lot of the cars i get people want the absolute maximum

and belive me i dont just make a car smoke and say its making more power as thats not always the case

but if you give people a high powered map and suggest they have a lower powered map 90% will always take the smokey map that makes more low down grunt and a little extra at the top

all the cars on my page are cars with gtb2260 turbos or hybrids and they all want the absolute maximum

example 250bhp smoke free

260 bhp light haze

high smoke 264bhp

the trade off for that little extra power is not much due to very high egt and high amounts of smoke for a very small increase

but some people like smoke and want to know thers is goin to be the best at a dyno day even if only by 1 or 2bhp

its all diminishing returns and once the boost is maxed out to its safe maximum the only other way is with fuel at that point the smoke starts to rise

also these big turbo cars have a lot of lag below 3k rpm if you remove all the fuel to try and get the car smoke free low down due to bad turbo spool you end up with about 100nm of torq untill 3k rpm and ther car just feels like a pig to drive so we counteract teh low torq and low boost with adding extra fuel this will give more torq even if you dont have more boost

this helps with the turbo lag but at the expense of smoke

some people like smoke free with a little extra grunt and dont want any smoke

all is done at customers request and the advantages and disadvantages are explained and i give lots of cautions if they choose the absolute maximum file

most cars i tune are designed for 1/4 mile type of racing 1st to 4th gear and then back out of it

if the customer was goin to take the car on a circuit ten i would design a less smokey map with a very very light haze and keep the egt's as low as possible but also trying to maintain a very good power and reliability balance

but as you see most cars are featured on my page as they are the high powerd cars that are a little more fun to put on rather than a smoke free map on a standard dpf delete car not very interesting at all

btw the passat is my development car so i have since stoped it smoking as bad but its allways goin to be a little bad as i have such a big turbo its a larger custom made gtb2267

i hope this cleared some of the issues up and im happy to help any one

also i dont just map a car and if it makes lower power keep increasing fuel and boost to try and substitute the lack of power and tell the customer all engines are diffrent and you must have got unlucky with this one

if the car is lacking power i then start figuring out why its making low power as most engines should be with 5% of each other as long as setup correctly
