Hi all,
Still looking into remapping (stage 1), what are the pros and cons to each style of mapping?
Anyone tried both on the same car? Is an aggressive map tougher on the engine and other parts? Anyone have any advice?

aggressive in an lcr is a recipe for tcs flashing a lot, and wheelspin..

Yup, only have a cupra, but get the more torque = more loss of traction but really only at launch, no?
Heard maps like revo more aggressive and comes in lower in rev range, whereas custom code is higher in rev range but smoother and longer in each gear, am I right?

The agressive ones come in with a bang but don't hold boost higher up in the revs whilst the smoother maps come in more progressively and hold boost longer in the rev range.

Depends on what you want from your car and your driving style IMO

If you like short more heavy bursts of power then more agressive will suit.

If your leaning more towards track days or more overall drivability then more progressive...

What makes the overall performance of the car better? An agressive map would be better surely? If there was 2 cars progressive and agressive from say 0 - 100 which would be ahead?

If you're talking 0-100 you'd have to be on a motorway or something like, under those conditions I would have though progressive would be better. As above though, it depends on your driving style and what you want from your car but it's not very often I go tearing away from the lights, I prefer 'rolling' power so it would have to be progressive for me.

I've just got my LCR remapped and its got a very progressive map. I still manage to wheelspin in first and second though. Another consideration is a more agressive map will be harder on the clutch, which is why I asked for a progressive smooth map on mine.

depends if you want smooth power delivery for road driving, or other activities on track

big bang torque hit is harder on the mechanicals - fact

Stock is red, progressive is blue and agressive is black. I prefer the black agressive remap. Its really good kick in the pants. Make your mom cry stuff...

So basically if i get an agressive map get used to buying a dual mass and clutch?

not immediately... Remember we have FWD cars. Under too much load the tires just slip. Not as heavy for the clutch as RWD or 4WD.. One of the mechanics at my workshop have a Audi A3 with a turbokit. He is running 323hp on a stock clutch. Been doing that for a year now..

I imagine the LCR clutch can take even more punishment than a 150hp A3 clutch.

Theres aa red LCR local and i had him a bit of a race in my old clio just to see who has the edge and he left me for dust which wasnt right as i could normally keep up with somthing that was arround 225bhp. So at the end of the road he put his window down and said 250bhp it eats clutches, so that kinda lead me to belive they much them with remaps. I think he must be running an apr map from awesome as it was bang and he was gone.

Yea well ppl say a lot of different things. Of course 440NM is much heavier for the clutch than 280NM and it wont last as long, but that said I don't believe there's any reason to change the clutch right away after a remap. Unless your car already has been trashed...

;) Going to choose carfully as i dont want to waste all this money and not be happy. Really i never hold a gear change to the red line i want some low down punch so that would mean agressive? I noticed progressive maps produce bigger hp on the rollers and the likes of revo and apr produce 250 - 260 and the custom code is 265 - 270 on stage 1 and custom code is touching 290 on stage 2.
