remapping survey- reliability issues

I have an FR which I can change the map from 150 to 202 with a switch unit, this was £395 from DNA tuning, best thing ever! honest, once you feel the improvement, you don't look back!!

Clutch is slipping between 2.3k and 2.5k, looking into a helix or sachs performance replacement, can't find a price anywhere at mo though (Annoying Help Needed!!!)

Issues that I originally came accross was the fact that I was creating smoke signals to some distant land everytime I floored it! I over came this by buying a green filter, and the old MAF silicon grease trick! believe it or not it worked!!!

Uhm thats it bud! My opinion go for it, we're only on this planet once!! oh I commute as well, the mpg hasn't changed a bit (again in my opinion of course) but I do motorway miles!!

Oh and just to add one last thing, I work on an Airbase with loads of disused dispersals, my mate turned up in a 57 type R, I beat him by half a cars length over a about 300m!!! But it was raining and he couldn't stop spinning..... So i did it another three times!!!! Ha

Can anybody point me in the direction of a decent priced Sachs or Helix Clutch provider.

i am very interested in the Maf grease trick as I have a twin exit exhaust on each side and when i floor it other drivers think that a choo choo train has just flown past them. i dont think i can put a green filter in as i have an induction kit . or can i?

The 'MAF grease trick' can be found in the TDI section - look/search for dielectric grease in that section.

I've done 16,500 miles since I got it re-mapped. No problems whatsoever. The clutch seems fine, not a hint of slipping etc.

The car has done 31 500 miles overall now in it's 30 month life.

Considering it is an ex-demo I got from Seat UK, I reckon that shows how tough LCR's really are!

Some people get a re-map, have problems and blame it on the re-map. My work mates Golf (mk IV) blew a turbo and his was totally standard. If it had been re-mapped the garage/stealer would automatically have blamed the re-tune.

But who ever knows for sure 100% when a car has problems that the re-map caused it?

They say most modern petrol clutches can take an engine having an extra 20% power hike (on average over stock) without any problems. All because the manufacturers design in a contingency for rubbish/boy racer drivers, to ensure the clutches don't give up too quickly.

Having said all that my OEM clutch will drop off tomorrow on the way to the office.

I had an Ibiza fr tdi 130 with 180bhp/290lb/ft for 26kmiles and no probs. http://www.obd-auto-tune.co.uk/ ryan did it in ballymeana. I looked at loads of different places but he knew more and the car doesn't smoke. Give them a shout!

Glad you brought this up john as tis has been pondering me for a few weeks, wouldnt mind a remap and im in the same position as you where I could afford both, possibly aftera couple of months of clutch money saving but i dont in one bit fancy spending money on a clutch. So I think ill put that idea on the backburner for a while as I do 20-25k a year and need my car to be very reliable and if i pay hundreds for more power I want to be able to use it and not just feed the power through slowly.... im not the most patient person.

So which remap is generally favoured, REVO or CC? They seem to be the main contenders in this sector. I too am considering a Stage 1 remap on my LCR but I would like one that is consistant throughout the rev range without any drop offs in boost as I am sure I've read somewhere can happen.

im looking into a stage 2 remap once iv finished the rest of the (expensive) modding, but i just replaced my clutch with a standard one...i take it that was a bad move? i wont have problems will i?

Had my cupra mapped by p-torque and have to say im well impressed, been about 6 months now no clutch slip...Just smiles!!!!

those drops tend to be leak issues or maf related rather than the map.

if you can, get a look a some dynos from various maps and compare. it should show were the power starts/ends.
