what cars have folding mirrors?
Would someone be so kind as to list the different makes and models of SEAT cars that have folding exterior mirrors - as either standard equipment, or as an option. I would like to know what range of vehicles could possibly be supported for Reflex. Thanks

ICEMAN - Foldy mirrors on Clifford keyfob, looks like scott missed this one (you could email him direct). I think it might just work, I (still) don't have my car back, but when I do I'll see if I can test it...
Scott - Other cars with Folding mirrors - might be an option on the Leon Cupra (?) and almost definietly the Toldeo, What about Audi TT - don't they have folding mirrors (lots of customers there)?

Best place to mount it inside the door?
Good question.. I've seen a few different locations work. In general, somewhere north-east of the window motor I believe to be best. If possible, don't stick it directly "on" the motor (electrically noisy) but stick it to the most flush / level surface for good adhesion all-round.
It’s important not to stick it down permanently until all the driver's door wires are attached.. that way you can “sniggle it around” and get slack on the wires where needed. It may only fit well (wires reach) in a couple locations.
Anyway, it’s a fairly new thing for this car so I’m looking for best-fit advice if you have it to offer. A benefit of a forum like this.. others learn too before attempting. Thanks!

DU02, how easy was it to install the kit? Be honest now. The more people who are getting their kits, the more they are saying how difficult it is! I am useless with stuff like this but could not pass on a gizmo like this!
Samm, it really is pretty easy. Scott's instructions are all you need. Once you've got the door apart all will become clear. The only tricky bit is feeding a cable from one door to the other behind the dash.
Notice that those saying it looks tricky haven't actually installed one yet

Nope, mine was also a protoype..., but I'll agree with Chris that getting the grey wire from one side of the car to the other is a bit of a pain. Not difficult, just timeconsuming. You can fit the driver's door module first though, and take it a step at a time.
Samm - the reassuring bit is that as you connect each wire up there's a test given in the instructions, so straight away you know if you've done something wrong.
..for comparison, the production units should be easier yet to install than prototypes, because:
- there's a 14" cable to reach mirror wires, instead of the 4pin screw terminal with zero reach,
- there is no car wire stripping at the mirror, just usual 3M connector crimps for everything
- no 2nd module to install in the passenger's side, now the longer cable just attaches directly to that mirror in the same fashion as driver's side.
Tip: for the 2 wires you need to cut at the mirror, you *could* cut them on the car-side of the mirror connector if that suits you better. Beware the wire colors "change" as they go through this connector so get the right ones by following them carefully, and head the instructions "car side" of a cut then means "furthest away from mirror".
This may be handy if you lose a mirror in the future, ahem, which happens some people... then the replacement mirror just snaps right into the connector and no re-tapping required.
Finally, there are hundreds of these gizmos in VW's around the world and once you get past the thought of taking your car apart.. a little bit. It's quite easy to do the job.
