Got mine today.:)

Looks a bit daunting at first, but had all the doors apart to replace sepakers and the like.

I too have no one to help me, but I'll give it a go at the weekend (if its not raining).

I reckon about 2 hours:confused:

2 hrs is probably about right for your first time. Having done it 3 times now I could probably do it in less than an hour.

Yeah, alright surf-boy :flame:

Phil, check the pics, mine is an 'earlier' prototype:) More LEDs and extra bit at the top!

I'm sure Scott said that they were the same, apart from yours having additional LEDs, but no matter. Did you send yours back to be re-programmed yet?

They need soldering to do the job propper :D

Not if you're planning to remove it at any point. I would strongly advise against soldering it, the connectors provided are more than adequate..

In my book scothlocks are never adequate. If you need to remove later you loose a tiny bit off the length of the wires you're splicing in.

I've seen countless times where not having a decent connection has caused endles hours of trouble in the long run.

I've seen very good results with these 3M brand connectors. They are type 558 and are gauged correctly for the thinner wires in the car and on AutoWindow. They have a double-prong tab, making eight points of contact between joining wires so there is some redundancy built-in. Part of the job is taping them up and tying the bundle down when done so vibration over time is not your enemy. I've had the original set in my Passat for ... maybe 4 years now without a hitch. I agree, if you have mis-gauged connectors or use cheap-o immitation Scotchlok's then your results will vary - it's a critical part and that's why they are supplied. On this topic, please note in your package that one connector is type 905 and is gauged for the thicker power line in the car for wire step #2.

Two hours for a novice install would be doing well for Reflex - because you have 2 door panels to do. Budget three hours... It's not hard work, it's just a bit fiddly.

follow me lights

no, that one won't make its way into AutoWindow, but I could sell you a kit to add to your car to do it. It would work slightly different than the MINI, but for less than 20 GBP to buy, probably OK. I could give you guidance for installing it based on VW Golf.. but I don't have your car to inspect to get down to the wire color details. let me know.

Follow me home lights is when you leave you headlights switched on after turning off the ignition then turn them off, the lights will stay illuminated for a set time .. showing you the way to the door. Some cars (Merc/BMW) also have a function to turn the lights on from the remote when unlocking the car.

samm, When I get the Cupra R - no point on this car - I may well be interested for that kind of money. Looks cool aswell.

neg- ahh I see now. That sound slike a good idea. I had visions of a big light on the bag of the car for people to follow!! A bit like the cars at airports that have flashing 'follow me' signs for the planes!

Now that would be cool ... and very clever !!!

Auto Window Device fitted

NO I didn't do it myself. Ian Bannings in Guildford (I.C.E specialists) did it for me. And a very good job they did at that.

Seeing as they are experienced guys and are used regularly by Porsche, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Jaguar and BMW, they were better equipped than me.

It took them about two hours to do and works really well. It can be a bit temperamental, especially if you look and unlock the car. It seem to like about 20 seconds between functions.

Mine is set up in one touch mode. A few combinations are also available - if you remember the sequence.

Thanks to Auto Window.

Just finished fitting mine, total time about two hours although my origin B2 seems to have packed up! Although I have traced it still has a live to the cradle, I'll test the B2 own the download cable tomorrow.

But yes, loving the auto mirrors and windows :D

Well I'll be damned! ...it works. ;-)

Allow yourself time to get familiar with the way things work. If you have a sunroof open and a window down.. it will take over 20 seconds to do the whole job of FOLD-UP. If you press buttons during this time, you can easily abort the command (STOP). The thing is, even if windows are already up the command will still try to close for the full time... Don't worry the motors have stall detectors and back off.

I really encourage you to try all the commands, and I hate to say it: read the command manual - especially the section on vehicle interaction. There are little gems in there.

TIP: for people who enable POWER Pack (ONE TOUCH) optional commands: Suppose you don't want FOLD-UP when you leave and lock.. but need to lock the car! Try closing the door, pressing UNLOCK first, wait 2 seconds, then LOCK - the car should just lock.

Mine's fitted, took me three hours:(

Bit of a bugger of a job.

Mine doesn't seem to want to switch between modes. Given up as its pi$$ing down:( But it works.

Next week......
