Ah there you go... If someone sells me theirs, I'll pay the going rate, and I'll fit theirs for free when the replacement turns up :D

How tempted am I??? If I don't fit it this weekend mate, you could be on a deal!!!

OK so operation foldy mirrors commences on Sunday so do you guys who have already fitted the kit have any hints, tips, advice? I have the instructions on how to remove the door panels. Is this easy? Which set of instructions do I follow as there are some for different versions of cars?

If you mean the door guide here, I'd follow the one for the front door if I were you

Tips posted earlier include;

Read the instructions.
Read the instructions again.
If you've read the instructions and you're a bit daunted, don't worry just take it a step at a time.
Follow the correct wire colours column for your car, blank out the others/fold the bit of paper/whatever so you don't drift to the wrong column.
Do one wire at a time, and do the test set out in the instructions - makes it easy to see which wire is badly/incorrectly connected.
A few people on here have said 2-3 hours to fit - I'd leave longer so you don't run out of light/start rushing (especially when you've got the glove box out)

You can do it in stages if you're not confident - windows, driver's door mirror, passenger's door mirror. In between you can put the door panel back and come back to it if you want.

Thanks Phil! At what point will I have the glove box out? No one has mentioned this before!!!

He, he, he.

As I understand it you have to get a wire from the driver's side unit to a unit on the passenger's side. The best route for this IMHO is behine the dash, behind the centre consol, and behind the glove box. I guess you might be able to find a route that doesn't mean taking the glove box out...

Do you have your unit? It does have a long grey wire doesn't it? Mine did, but I remeber Scott saying that he might be able to get away from that...

Yes it does have a long grey cable to connect to the other door. A few people have said that it is quite a pain running this cable!

I think you could do it without taking the glove box out, I wasn't sure of the route so I did it to give me as much space as possible.

I bet you could get it through by just taking footwell the kick panel out, but I'm not sure.

Sorry if I alarmed you!

One word of warning...

If you have an airbag switch inside your glovebox, DO NOT, take the glovebox out without first disonnecting the battery for 20mins or so first. Then make sure you have it all plugged back in before re-connecting the battery. If you don't you'll have to use vag-com or a dealer to reset your airbag system.

Nope, I've never done that one... I was told in advance :D

The Leon doesn't have a switch but the R does...

Pete

However, if it is like the Mk4 Ibiza you can undo the glovebox, drop it a coupe of inches and leave everything still plugged in and still gain access to the back of the dash for running cables.

YEAH!!! - I've got mine too!!

It arrived ealier this week, but the receptionist at work put it to one side and forgot to give it to me. - Don't worry I slapped her for it

Hopefully going to fit it on Sunday if I have time, and it's dry.

Thanks Scott :worship:

I'll let you all know how I get on.
