Hi Guys

I have looked through lots of different posts on this subject and tried all of the tips I have seen on here. I have had my 99 (T) Toledo SE TDi for a week now and the remote doesn't work.

Most of the guides on here tell you to keep the lock button pressed whilst pressing the unlock button 3 times.

I don't have a lock or unlock button, I have a blank button (nearest blade) and a button with an embossed key on it. Inside, I have the glass tube transmitter type. Both light the LED (situated between the buttons) when pressed and it flashes 3-4 times per second when held down. I have changed the batteries so I know they are ok.

I get no recognition from car locks, horn or car lights when I try the various methods posted. I have VAG COM but haven't the nerve to try it for key programming as I've read you can disable the key completely and the guide I read was a bit vague! (At the moment it works the central locking, starts the car and I think works the immobiliser as indicators flash when locking.)

If anyone has an idiots guide to the procedure using VAG COM, I would be eternally grateful, or any other ideas for that matter.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Fl@pper, which do you think the unlock button is on my key? The blank or the key button? Or can I try the procedure from scratch with either?

blank is unlock

key logo'd one is lock

thats if my memory serves me right :)

Just tried the steps, with both buttons from scratch. Tried with all windows down and car unlocked... no joy

Thanks anyway Fl@pper.

check the voltage of the batteries to ensure they are at least 2.9v each

or better still change em anyway

PS- windows down is just to make sure you dont accidentally lock your keys in the car ;)

Do you know if the VAG COM procedure is just for the central locking/starting or does it program remote locking also?

theres 2 iirc

one for the immobiliser in the ecu and one for the remote via central convenience

Do you think this is the problem, or could it be the circuit board faulty? Like i said in my original post, I'm not very experienced using VAG COM and am worried I'll mess the key functions completely. Or, is this procedure purely for remote locking/unlocking?

How much did it cost jiege?... Scrub that, just seen where you are from! Should lay off the Stella when I'm posting I think!!

Fl@pper, any chance you could have a go at my key if I drive up to you please? It would give me a good excuse for a run out and is not too far from me!
