Remote programming help

I've searched through various posts but they all seem to have different techniques and options.

I've got a standard 2 button remote, fob doesn't work, and a pain transponder key.

I've bought a two button flip, part number 959753N which I believed correct for a 2001 leon.

I haven't got it cut yet getting it cut tomorrow but thought I'd try programming the locking anyway.

I've tried both existing keys in ignition and door, and the gin on door lock unlock button method and also the hold button press other button way, neither method had any response, no horn and no lights flashing.

Do I need to have the flip key cut and use that with transponder in it before locking programme will work?

Racking my brains out!!!

Based in Gloucester. Did have a faulty drivers module which I have had replaced. Remote locking was working with the old fob but fobs faulty, only intermittently worked had to squeeze it and now no led.

Locking from key works fine and the lock button inside door works fine

Sorry unable to make Birmingham, thank you anyway! Yes the new has the pcb in, bought it as "tested and working" from the guides on here it said I needed the n at the end of part mumber. I've just had a look on etka and found the following.. Can't work out for def which it would be

37 1J0959753A sender unit for radio- controlled central locking (oval key pad)
F >> 1M-1B044 486 F >> 1M-1R037 950 2 buttons 433,92MHZ
1
1

(37) 1J0959753N sender unit with led function display for radio controlled central locking (square key pad)
F 1M-1B044 487>> F 1M-1R037 951>> 2 buttons 433,92MHZ
1
1

I presume this is the vin number difference but can't understand it

I don't know if it should be square or not, I had a non flip key.

Going from the flip key thread, I ordered the 959753N but no matter what method I use it doesn't sync.

So now unsure if it should be square or curved, and what p/n as can't afford to buy using trial and error!

Cheers for that let me know when your free, can ring anytime over weekend, just thinking about it when I ordered my flip key it came with a broken case and a new shell. Can the pcb be re programmed to my car it was synced with a different car before?

Is that the locking pcb or the transponder? I've got an existing transponder so no problem there. So the manual procedure with two keys only works if its a new pcb but if its a previously paired one it has to be done via vcds? Sorry first vag so new to this!

Is vcds same as vag com?

it doesn't matter if it's new or used. Manual procedure should work for both. However i find that it doesn't always work, even with brand new remotes so i just use VCDS.

Also manual procedure is only for remote PCB. The transponder has to be programmed using VCDS or a key programming tool

Thanks action man.

I've got the transponder from my old key and it starts fine just can't get the rcl to work. I've tried every method I can find and get no response from car (beep/horn/unlock/ lights flashing)

The rcl did work before my old key broke. So if I can get hold of vcds it should work then? Miss my rcl!

no worries, the manual procedure doesn't always work even if there's no faults in the system. I'm heading to Bristol at some point this month to do some car keys. I'll give you a shout once i've got a date set & if you still need it sorting I can call in & sort it for you

that's odd because every pre 2002 Leon i've done has used the 1j0959753n. 3D Group & Hickleys also list it that way.

Are you sure it wasn't a 2002 51 reg?
