I might go for a P-Torque remap while they have the special offer on but can't make the trip up there. They say you can send them your ECU and they will remap it and send back. :funk:

Has anyone removed their ECU before? I have done a search but not found anything. I don't even know where it is..there's a silver box thing behind the air box which could be it. Hopefully it's just a case of removing a couple of screws and disconnecting the cables.

This would also be useful to know as I could do an ECU reset by just un-plugging the power cables and not have to disconnect the battery as I don't have my radio code!

The ECU is held within a plastic bracket.

It just pulls out of that and then you remove the connection... I'd imagine that just pulls/clips off but I'm not 100% on that.

Any idea where abouts? I think the dervs have different ECUs than petrol too so could well be in another place on mine.

Good shout.

Mines is behind the air filter and sits inside a plastic bracket, it just pulls out of the bracket but I'm not 100% on removing the connection.

If your gona take out your ECU mate you shoult always disconect the battery first so as not to cause ant damage to the pcb's and the smale components inside the ECU.

I'm off to p-torque on wednesday ;)

Surely the question you should be asking yourself is... If you don't know what you're doing should you really be doing it? Especially as it could be rather costly if it all goes wrong.

Well I do know that I need to remove the ECU to get it re-mapped, just not sure where abouts in the car it is. Think I have found it now but am gonna have to think again as I will have to pay more money out to get the radio code back :(
