i'm gonna be taking my right fog light out and fixing the end of my cold air feed to the back of it.
can somebody help me with any coding I will need to do to prevent any warning lights (i've got a copy of vag com).
Also can anybody reccomend a good way of fixing the pipe around the lip of the fog light shroud?
cheers,
pat

oh yeh and I know this is a real derrrrrrrrrr question but is it just a case of removing the two screws and the plastic honeycomb fog light cover comes off? i would check but missus has got the car :)

if its the same as the pd then yeah, just a couple of screws. See now if you'd gone Btcc you could run the cold air feed by the passenger side vent fin thingy :D

and as daft as it sounds, no-nails double sided tape?

yeh seen that be done but the guy used two small pipes instead of one large one which i thought looked a bit naff... plus it would mean having to actually look at the K1 front bumper every day of my life which i couldn't bare the thought of! lol

thats what i was thinking tbh...

assuming you'll have to code or remove both fogs cause the car will fail the MOT (when they comes around and if you are still running it without the fog on the one side) if both fogs dont work correctly.

anyway, enough of my sensibleness... thats a pretty cool idea and i look forward to the pictorial report

not all cars have front fogs, so how can this be an MOT failure? and you wont have to remove both fogs, getting rid of the error doesnt stop the thing working, or else everyone with LED's for DRL's etc would be screwed

I think he means if one works and there isn't another fog the other side, it'd fail, probably classed as bulb out?

I ran a cold air feed to the intake on the left side of the old car from beside the fog light.

What's the main reason for canging the position of the intake? More direct flow of air? Remember you will lose the factory air scoop by doing this.

Fogs can be disabled in vagcom for sure.

What you doing to the car now then?

bit of an update...

managed to geth the fog light cover off. after a bit of head scratching. There is only one phillips head screw that holds this on, located in the top hand corner closest to the centre of the car. their is another hex head bolt with what looks like a secondary torx head inside which doesn't do anything when you turn it. i think it is some sort of theft detterant or something... feel free to correct me though!

I have always had my ducting than came with my ITG kit which ran from just next to the foam filter to directly behind my fog light. now the fog light is removed (it was a right fiddly job getting it out and I'm not exactly sure how I did it...) the ducting is free to scoop up as much air as it pleases as it fills the big hole that is left :)

At the moment it looks a bit half arsed so I will sort something out this week to tidy it up a bit... I shall post finished pics when done.

Al; I am getting the car nice and tidy for show season and trying to do a few very cheap visual mods! I have commited to keeping the car until at least October because i'm tired of forking out £40 a month in advertising fees for eBay and Pistonheads and not getting the result i need. It's a bad time to sell a car and I can't afford to drop the price any further so I may as well stop whinging and get on with it! lol

I've been scouring Google and raiding eBay and I can find a decent temp solution but I'm Google Sketchup-ing a better long term solution right now. Feeling creative so looking at buying some modelling kit from Carbon-Mods and doing a bit of DIY next weekend :)

+1 :D are you gonna do it with both fogs? that would look good IMO

Erm not really much point that I can see tbh mate, other than to get more air into the engine compartment. This is certainly not the most aerodynamic of solutions and I don't really want to make things worse for not much reason...

If your car has fogs both have to work for it to pass the MOT... if neither work your ok but one working and the other one not is a fail.

As i said, just something for the OP to consider should he be bothered, but he isnt :p

yeh i know what you saying but having just one random fog light that doesnt work seems a bit pointless to me rather make the most of it, but thats just my thought lol its your car lol

I was gonna lamin-x it to make it look a bit prettier but yeh was planning on just running the one fog light... it's cheaper than getting a blanking plate made and looks nicer...
