removing sides of boot trim

i will probably be able to figure it out eventually but has anyone who's done it give me a quick heads up on removing the two side carpets? do i need to remove the plastic bit on the tailgate or the bits the parcel shelf sits on?

my preferred method would be an alpine type x sub and turn the volume to 11
