As above really. Rear bumper passenger side. I was reversing out of my parents drive yesterday having visited them for the w/end. A car came tearing up towards me (it's a cul de sac) and rather than pulling back into the drive to let him past, I rushed and just kissed up against an old BM bumper.

It was dark and my initial inspection looked like I had just put a tiny scrape into the bumper insert.
But today looking at it I have put some very slight, but long whitish looking scratches around the corner of the bumper. I can try and get some pics at some point if that would help.

I am gonna wash the whole car this weekend and give it some TLC (wax it and clean interior, glass etc.) so what can I do to sort these scratches out? I think that a decent wash will hopefully make most of them appear almost non-existent, but any hints would be aprpeciated!

If it hasn't gone through the colour layer (can you feel the scratches with your fingernail? If so then you won't get rid of them, only make a slight improvement) try Meguairs Scratch-X. Its ideal for small spot repairs like that. Use a small amount at a time, apply in straight lines across the damaged area and really work it thoroghly. Wipe off immediately and inspect. I would expect it to take a good few goes to make an improvement.

The scratches aren't very deep - I haven't really had the chance to have a proper look though. I think the white appearance is either paint from the other car, or just the look of the plastic where it has scraped.

I think I will have a better idea once I have washed it and cleaned off any small bits of plastic that are clouding the issue. Thanks for the suggestion of Scratch-X. I will get it, if it appears to be necessary.
