Removing steering wheel

Was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to remove the steering wheel on a cupra.
Iv got a really annoying scraping noise coming from just behind the wheel when I turn, its really irritating.

Im going to disconnect the battery for 30mins before I start taking the steering wheel apart, just to make sure the airbags dont activate...

Dose anyone know how I should go about removing the wheel... ie.. screw/clip locations.

Thanks very much!

think you stick a thin flat end screwdriver down the 2 holes on the back of the wheel and jig about, you should feel a clip, just unclip both ends which will allow you to remove the steering wheel cover,i think its self explanatory from there on...

Cheers lads!
Going to work on the car tomorrow, so will try the towel trick first!... if not cheers for the info sandy!

Fords are easy to fix, VAG's are a ballache! lol, its a learning curve for me.

Eh?

To remove the steering wheel:

-Disconnect the battery
-Take out the 3 torx bolts from the rear of the steering wheel to remove the airbag, they are at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock.
-Be careful not to break the airbag connection, you will have to take this out.
-Take off the large nut on the steering coloum to remove the steering wheel itself. Remember and mark which splines the steering wheel is on with some tip-ex or something as you may not put it back on straight.

There's a wee guide for you. I'm sure there is one elsewhere anyway.

Well thats a load of crap, i think the cupra must be different.

Its what sandy said.. turn the wheel 1/4 of a turn and insert the screw driver into the hole and 'jiggle' theres a knac too it so be patient.

When taking the wheel off leave the nut on a couple of threads and give the wheel a tug, that way you dont end up with a face full of steering wheel.
