Hello,

hope you can all help, seems the best place to come!

Ive got a new stereo to put in my ibiza but i dont know how to remove the standard tape player. What do i need and how do i do it or can i use stuff i have at home?

Thanks for helping:)

if it is the standard grundig piece of crap I had in mine

there are 4 buttons on the face of the unit, (2 either side) you need a remover tool which looks like a big C or U if you like, the tool clicks into the 4 buttons then the unit pulls out.

you can buy the tool from places like halfords for around £5 or just use a welding rod or wire coat hanger

I sold my origonal on eaby for £12, not bad!

find a wire coat hanger. (5p in tesco i think i saw the other day)
use a pair of plyers and cut the corners off, and keep them
bend them into a 'U' shape and fit into the 4 holes, 2 either side.
press it in quite hard and it should literally just pull out without much effort.

took me 5 mins in the dark!

the ripples at the end are just to stop them pulling back out

as above - make some out of a wire coat hanger if you can find one, for some reason there are none left in this house ?:wtf:

ahh may have been me cutting em up everytime i removed a stereo :bleh:

ha I sold my grundig tape player for £25 on ebay! I was very pleased! Who would buy that?

Question: when i removed my stereo there was a blue clip to go in the back, It has like 8 wires going in and out, I have a theory that it is for a cd changer but if it is where do the wires go/ or where was the standard cd changer kept? I use the slot its supposed to go in for a 3.5mm jack input so I can play my ipod through the stereo! Best £5.99 I ever spent, I think the ipod compatible headunits are atleast £200 or the kits are like £50!

Also my stereo will only turn on when the cars on or atleast when the keys in the on position, is this a standard feature for all ibizas?

looks like its for a changer. Either that or for stearing wheel controls/dash board displays, eg like a Vectra, but Ibiza's dont have 'em! well, mine doesnt? but mine is just a base model!

i found my 95 didnt have an ignition live, just a permanent. my headunit requires both, so i pulled the pin for the ignition live out of the iso and stuck it in the permo live, that was 7 months ago and still no fires :)

yeah.. i found that lead when i was ripping out the heater controls to find a selection issues.. was on my mind to found out what they were about too... any ideas anyone?

thanks for the help, i dont have a coat hangers  only those plastic ones. Ill have to go to halfords. Im glad i got an ibiza, so much cheaper to change the stereo!!!

just get to super small screw drivers, and pop one side out at a time or maybe small allen keys like 3mm + 3.5mm.. anything that will fit in the holes:)
