Replacement key fob

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a used key fob from ebay for my 2006 Leon TFSI. Part number HLO 1K0 959 753 N 434 mhz off a VW. The part number on my current key is HLO 1K0 959 753 G, so the only difference is the N and G. Will this matter?

Also, I have read that the transponder is a one time only pairing, can anyone confirm this? Would my local dealer be able to re-programme the transponder to my car?

I bought a second keyfob from ebay, I just took apart the gypsy single key they gave me with the car, and removed the transponder from it, and just put this into the keyfob I bought from ebay.

Then followed some instructions on the forum for re-syncing the remote open and close, works 100%

I however bought an exact match for my fob, exactly the same numbers etc

The letter prefix on the end can mean its not suitable. It can also mean its a supersession, need to check on ETKA.

Good call, I had found a complete one for £40 but this seems a better option.

Where do I find my part number for this as I presume they differ on all cars, I have a 2007 Cupra and the price of the fobs above make me want a nice shinny new one!!

from memory on mine, I took the key apart and the relevant details were printed on the casing.

if you flip the key out you will see a slot where the key normally lies, use a flat head screwdriver and twist it in the slot

I have just treated myself to a new plip and a new key blade from flea bay following the above links- how does the standard non remote key give up the transponder chip? Or how does the new one get coded to the immobiliser?

can't comment on how you remove the transponder from the non remote key as i only got a plip key (like that) with my car

from my understanding of the way the transponder works is it takes its charge from the ignition barrel. The transponder then emits a unique id which the immobilser has to recognise before disabling.

When it comes to programming a transponder to the car, i think there is two scenarios:

1. A new transponder can be programmed to the existing id of the car, done by a dealer or someone in possesion of vag-com and the skc code (secret code)

2. If the transponder is used (already programmed to a different car), then it is the immobilser that has to be programmed to accept the id of the transponder

Hopefully someone can clarify my statement??

Did this a while ago when I first got the Leon. I also did the same thing with my old MK4 Ibiza and when I took it for a service they were quizzing me about how I managed to get a MK4 with a flip key as they never had them as standard.

Just thought I would bump this thread and add some info.

AS per my previous post I did the second flip key mod a while ago. It was today that I needed to use my second flip key and I found that the second key had a different set of driver options. For example LOCKING/INDICATORS/MIRRORS/STEREO POWER ON AND OFF.

If you have the bluetooth and the larger MFD you can have different driver convenience settings for each key that is programed. You make changes to the convenience module and those settings stay with that key, with a different key you can store different settings.

I hope that makes sense.

hi. i am after a spare key for my leon 2003 1.9 tdi. there are so many on ebay, some flip some not. the one i lost was a flip type but the spare im using is just like the early type key with 2 buttons.
any ideas?
