Folks I believe its time to replace the battery on my car. I’ve had a few moments recently where it has struggled to start and I think the battery is on its way out, we are into 2009 and I think my car is still on its first battery from when it was registered in 2002.

My question(s) are simple, if anyone can advise as I’ve not done it on my model of car before (I have changed batteries in the past though on older cars)

Is there anything I need to be aware of when disconnecting / reconnecting? I appreciate I’ll need to enter in my radio code again. Do I need to establish my key fob again or anything silly like that? Will my alarm start beeping at when I’ve reconnected the new battery? Should I not leave it disconnected after so long, do I need to clear and VAG-COM codes? Little things like that really.

Ta

never heard of having to put a radio code on these cars before. I;ve disconnected mine several times, and all that happens is it removes your fuel consumption, and your display will show wrong date and time.

As for the rest there is nothing to it. Might even clear certain codes that have been on there for a long time.

just remember earth first when disconnecting then earth last when re-connecting. if the batterys off for more then 30min the ecu will revert back to its standard settings so drive the car carefully for the first 15mins

Is there any way to tell what the stock battery was? I have this ugly white battery which I was going to spray black, but if it's the standard one I might as well just replace it with a black one anyway! (ECP have them for £30)

All I can tell is, it says TUDOR ES and I think I can see a fluid level with about a 1 inch gap or so from the top.

Proper trivial matter really but just wondered :D
