Hi All,

When I bought the EXEO last year i was only given one key.

Phoned SEAT (Mon Motors South Wales) to be quoted £270 for the key and for it to be coded to the car.

I almost fell through the floor!

Has anyone had replacement keys done?

Thanks

I'm guessing its the same method as VW where the car immobilizer has to be coded to the keys which can only be done from VW HQ via the dealers (Unless you know someone with a laptop and the right software) and if you buy a second hand key off ebay there's the risk that it cant be recoded.

It's absolutely ludicrous how dealers can charge so much for one key, safe to say I won't be paying that.

Yeah the difficult bit is the immobilizer chip. Getting the main key, a blade cut and paired to the central remote locking is doable.

I managed to find an old audi key that was a tenner and it could be paried to my central locking, got the blade cut via ebay seller (took two tries) and then moved my immo chip from my spare non-remote key to new remote key to avoid having to get a new one done.

When i last looked there was an actual second hand exeo key on ebay (I linked to it in another thread here and its still there). With a new blade will take the cost to £60 so you then need to find out who can do an immo chip for you.

Do you happen to still know the link? All I can find is Audi keys.

Think immobiliser chip is more complicated than on older cars and so not sure if this one can be done using vcds. I started looking into it but as I had a spare key, it was easier for me to transfer my one.

I've heard a few horror stories with the cheaper vcds cables.

I have an older edition of VCDS and it can't do the immobilizer coding (but it can do the central locking), so unless its something added in a newer release then you're barking up the wrong tree.

I think it's VAG Tacho you need.

That rings a bell from when I was researching it.

Hi there,
I’m sorry to bother you. I have an EXEO 2010 and lost my main CB only push button key (bought car and only had one key). I do have the flat key that opens the doors, locks the doors and turns the ignition to ‘on’. I’m wondering if the solution you suggest would work for me? how do I go about getting the fob reprogrammed? I’m in Dorset and a breakers yard in Manchester has a key for £45 (but obviously it won’t stick in mine and turn it).

SEAT in Poole (Snows) has said it is £720 for a new key. And I have to have it recovered to them. Is this really right? desperate to know. Had a lovely ex copper who has a mobile key cutting and programming kit in his van attend today and he took off the clock facia and even sat in the car with his computer to try and do it. Apparently this works on Leon’s not Exeo. Do you have any advice please.
many thanks,
Anna

The valet key will have an immobilizer chip in it, get the nice ex copper to cut your new blade, match the fob to the alarm system and swap the chip over to the new fob, job done (I did this myself when I lost my only remote key)
