Well all I know is my Black magic leon is looking more like a cow by the day with all the black coming off here and there when my cotton t-shirt brushes it

That is dirt you .....!
The paint is about 80 microns and the clearcoat is about another 50. German and VAG paint is probably the thickest out there. Any black coming off your car is not paint unless you have completely removed the clearcoat in which case the hardness or softness is the least of your worries.

BLOODY HELL! No one ever gets humour on these forums?? Saying my cotton t-shirt scratches is just another way of saying it doesn't take much to remove a layer of it.
I'm not suggesting that cotton is abrasive enough to scratch the paint..if it was the the wet& dry paper industry would be out of business pretty quick if ppl can just use their old clothes.

I'd invite anyone to take a look at my leon and other car and tell me which one has more chips and scratches marks blemishes orange peeling et etc... and it'll be the one that has done 45,000miles less which is the leon. Maybe i've been unlucky and every stone on the motoway network has been kicked up and hit my vehicle ( I doubt it)

Some people here are saying it's thick enough and hard enough to withstand a pick axe. perhaps on their car it is...
but not every car (or even product) that comes out of a factory is of the same quality!!!???
Happens all the time, paint is notorious for having 'bad batches'.

TO be fair, i know where ur comming from.

i polished mine yesterday and sitting in the sun the paint is a mess. only way i can describe it is "blotchy"

its as if the sprayguns have varied the spray pressure when they've past the car and they've left parts of the car lighter than the others.

its only really in certain lights u see this and it does affect the whole car.

Silver always seems to show this blotchy finish up...seen all sorts of cars from all sorts of manufacturers look iffy in silver.

Bring back that nasty toxic 2 pack I say!

well i spoke to the bodyshop and they agree its way too much work and money to spend on a car i might only keep for another 1-2 years tops, i should just buy an Audi instead with the colour, did spot a stunning 2008 S3 but it was £23k!!!

Have you not seen the blue that SEAT now do?
think there is a guy on here with the blue cupra , not my cup of tea but may be worth while you having a look?
cheaper option than the Audi

was thinking of getting my roof done piano black ;)

Was thinking about getting my piano done in chrono yellow! Ha aha ha

Sorry Rob! That was by no means offensive just thought it'd amuse some! And no, i don't have a piano!

I think the nicest paintjob i've seen was a pearl white on a Lambo - with anthracite wheels it looked incredible....however as a respray i'm not sure this would be cost effective...?

Mat black or mat grey also seem to look incredible in the flesh.

if its just the blue colour u watn then why not buy a new FR or Cupra k1?

the blue they do now is basically the same as the S line audi blue.
