Looking to do a fair bit of work to the leon in the next month and one thing on my list is the possibilty of an oem auto dimming / anti dazzle rear view mirror, has anybody attempted this. I saw one on a mondeo recently that looked like it just need a 12v supply but id rather not tarnish my car with ford parts! any ideas?

Have a search mate. yes ive done it depending on car you'll need the mirror from A3 without auto wash/wipe sensor. Then wire to power and if you can reverse switch (clears in reverse) iirc the mirror also has wire/s to drive dimming of door mirrors but no audi glass fits, so just ignore!

I got my christmas bonus today so come dec 26th i shall have a reasonable extra sum in my pay packet :D just looking about to see what ni can fit as i have 2 weeks holiday over christmas.

You could even get the OEM leon one if you really wanted.... Although I doubt they'll turn up in a scrappies unless you're seriously lucky.

But thanks to the wonders of the interweb (and me :p) I've found you some part nos (for the SEAT garage).

For a mirror with anti-dazzle I've got a part no of 1M2857511A.

For pearl grey (?) mirror with anti-dazzle part no 1M2857511A Y20.

A Cupra R one has a code of 3B0857511A; for satin black its 3B0857511A 01C.

These should all do the automatic anti-dazzle - you might need somer wiring conduit etc to hide where the cable runs down from the roof lining.

Price for the satin black one back in 2009 was around £55, part no has also been superseded by 3B0 875 511A 9B9.

Dunno what they are now.....

Just been on to the dealer and the mirror is now wait for it ............... £171.00 !!!!
Not getting one of those !!

i got one from a vw bora with rain sensor wipers. they are common in them. i changed the windscreen to get one with the mount for the rain sensor. the mirror cost me 30quid and 5 quid for a can of satin black paint
