Hey guys, new here. :)

Recently purchased a 57 plate FR and I would like to retrofit a satnav system, the car already has factory fitted BT.

I have been looking at the RNS510 and i'm looking at doing this around december, does anyone have links to guides on this as i've had trouble finding one.

Cheers.

I've just fitted one to my fr tdi, easy enough fit, slightly more than just plug and play.

Had to vag com code the can module to tell he display I had a nav system so it would show up on the driver info display. Then I had to cut the hole in the dash (where the radio goes), to allow the unit to fit in properly as I have the VW one with sd card slot so he radio is slightly bulkier at the bottom, then I had to remove the wires for the aux as they are in a different location on the pin out

apart from that it works fine and pleased with it!

Cool, I can't wait to get mine and get it sorted, although I think i'll be worried about damaging the interior whilst running the antenna.

no need to worry mate. its easier to take the glove box out while fitting the head unit (to help jiggle the wiring about which can be tight), so just shove the antenna under the dash while its out. works a treat.

no one has flashed a seat start up logo to a vw unit as far as i am aware.

I routed the cable up the passenger a pillar at place the antenna next to the interior mirror.

Was a bit of a nightmare to route but I was already putting a cable up there any way for the microphone so I could also have voice control on the sat nav which is only available on the vw version, have also got the speed cameras on and that is cool like meantioned before

How is the speed cams updated and from where at what cost?
A freshly burned DVD with custom altered POI's needs to be created and loaded each time - so not the easiest thing to do!

I'm still on my same one as you!

I must admit, seeing as I have a Pogo hard wired in the car I have not been too fussed about keeping mine updated -
I can ask around to see if I can get hold of another updated one if you'd like? :)

i'd like, if you dont mind. i dont guess there'd be much changed other than maybe mobile locations updated.

Seems like the layout on the RNS510 is a lot different to what I have on my RNS310. You still up for meeting up at some point Nick to compare?

That's not so bad then.

Out of interest, if the unit was factory fitted where do they put the antenna?

on my mates factory fitted rns 510 on his altea its part of the antenna on the roof (it has gps wrote on the base of the antenna on the roof)
