Right - well - standard airbox back in today, with 100mm ali ducting all done too :)

All was a piece of cake - only problem was getting the damn hose back on the airbox (the one you stick a smaller filter on with an induction kit).
I had to bodge it with another bit of pipe in the end, but it works :)

Here's a pic:

Did you notice any difference in performance/response changing from the induction kit to the smoothed airbox?

erm, to be honest mate i want to wait until i've fitted a green filter before commenting.
The car is quite as a mouse at the moment though! No more DV/CAI noise :(

Ahh sorry, thought you had managed to get your green panel filter in too. I noticed a difference in noise etc but i doubt its like the induction roar from a complete kit, hopefully you will get something you are pleased with, I know i am happy with the results.

Do you have a Forge TIP fitted Pabs? (can't remember)

Nope mate - a very expensive bit of rubber, that one :(

All i need to do now is fit the green panel filter, but it seems like i'll never get one grrr. Can't find one in stock anywhere.

Might have to go down the k&n panel filter route, or similar. Don't WANT to, but i don't want to be running with std filter for too long, or i probably should turn revo off, and with an RR day this saturday i wanted to have a fair comparison of CAI vs decent panel filter etc.

I am kinda shocked at how quite my car now is - the ducting seems to have virtually 0 difference in sound to a stock car. But I kinda put that down to the std airfilter i have too.

Performance-wise - car feels good - can't say it's made a NOTICABLE difference (for good or bad) but hopefully with a decent filter, the RR might give SOME indication of that :)

Pabs, so after running the smoothed airbox and I assume a green panel filter, does it make any worthwhile difference over standard in your opinion?

I have k&n panel filter, and smoothed airbox. Can't say I've noticed a difference to be honest, but then I've come from a full CAI system straight to the k&n panel filter, so I'm not comparing it to standard.

That said - the power figures I've had on RR days with CAI were within 5bhp of the figures with k&n panel filter - so it shows that a panel filter and decent ducting can perform just as well as a CAI :)

Interesting, I may have a go at doing mine in stages, firstly, smooth the airbox, then later on larger ducting and then finally a performance panel filter. It will be interesting to see what gains, if any i notice over standard.

I have tried smoothed airbox/green panel filter vs BMC

BMC flowed a good 5g/s more than smoothed box.

Tested by logging BMC over a period of 3 days. I removed BMC, fitted airbox/panel, tested straight away and again for 3 days and i was down 5-6g/s. Swapped back to BMC and regained that lost airflow.

Pretty conclusive in my eyes anyway. CAI outperforms
