Just had a revo trial put on my LCR,
Its really good, loads more power, but when you get past 4.5 - 5k on the revs the power seems to fade, i've seen this reported before, spoke to the revo guy and he reckons i should get an intercooler, but it works out about £875 fitted, seems a lot of money to pay out for more power at top end of revs,

has anyone done this or have any comments on this?

cheers
Mark

(still got 4 hrs of driving time left!)

it's an unfortunate characteristic of the trial that it has to cater for 'all' cars - by that I mean, those with gnat's piss for petrol, rather than V-power etc

The peaky nature of the k04 turbo will always tail off at the top end a little though.

lol

using 99 ron for tesco, so what you are saying is the full version be different (i know it runs at 85% of full potential) can you specify petrol type on it?
I only use High Ron stuff

what do you think about the intercooler advice i was given?

i found the trial to be pretty poor compared to the full version.

I have revo stage 1 now on my LC and while it doesn't transform your car into a skyline it is much better than the trial. I'm very happy with it.

all in all though i'd say a fee of around the £300mark would be a much better price for what you get.

being a newbie to the modding malarky my expectations of adding 30bhp were that the cars acceleration would suddenly be of the chart. I have since modded my expectation levels. Again though, i'm very happy with eth full version.

A remap will never transform your car - it just gives you the added power where you need it most :)

I wouldn't justify spending near £500 on it though. I've drove a REVO'd car, and it is the best BHP increase for your money, but not worth the £500.

Get a custom remap - you can then dictate the power, where it comes in, and where it fades away. Plus it's generally cheaper than the generic revo map !

my problem with custom was the sheer lack of suppliers up here in the west of scotland and the fact that to get full benefits other mods were required first and i had a limited budget to do a few choice mods. that and the crazy figures the jabba vendor up here was quoting me, made me very suspicious.

Revo was a local and established option.

the intercooler will help, but dont expect it to remove the tailing off.
thats there to stay.

however one way to reduce that is to play with the settings.

there is an sps device available with revo that allows you to adjust timing to suit fuel types and also too adjust boost levels.

you could set it to lower boost and advance the timing to get a more linear power delivery.

however they are not cheap, but on the plus side many on here have them and happy to help out fellow members.

i must admit, £500+Vat is well steep, and i'm still umming about it

problem is revo is the only one you can get a trial on.

whats the prices like on the other remaps then?

ok been looking around and fat jabba looks quite highly rated, i like the fact they custom it to your car,
bit of a drive from cardiff though

Can someone in the know explain the difference in power delivery between the REVO and JabbaSport

You can get trial on APR too.

Awsome GTI in Manchester do it. Not sure who else mind but may be others.

I have Revo full version on my LC and it still puts a big grin on my face. Defo the best increase for the money compared to other mods i.e.exhaust, filter, IC and so on.

Not sure on price of other remaps but they are all around the same mark. Revo tends to be a favorite on here but many members have other maps too and have found them to be what they wanted. At the end of the day it is a personal choice of cost, performnce, customer service and the feeling/delivery of the power to your driving style.

If you're up in Scotland have you tried Star Performance? They seem to have a good reputation

Give APR a try, they do a 6 hour trial.

I get solid power right through to the red line , but you don't get the sudden boost that Revo gives. Suppose there's only so much that the turbo will flow
Another plus with Apr is if you have the cruise fitted you can have more than one program uploaded and then switch between them

i had the trial to was quite happy until it went back to stock, couldnt reach top end as easy and seemed sluggish, and dont quote me on this but i heard through the grapevine that the trial is more aggresive than the actual map, not sure how true this is mind!

I love mine - Bell Auto's remap.

Customised it myself to give me extra beef, but not so aggressive as to $hag my clutch !

Plus it's 1/3 cost of REVO. I suppose REVO is so expensive due to the great support & aftermarket advice they can offer you (as they have dealers throughout the UK).

I had my LCR with Revo for 50,000miles, when you think about the cost of a product it's also worth considering the 'other' things i.e, customer support, product testing and development that went into your product.....doubtless I could find a 'tuner' that would 'remap' your car for £150.......who knows what it would be like or how long your turbo would last etc

The full code is better than the trial but the tailing off at high revs is a charactoristic of the K04 turbo which is maxxed out around 270bhp, lots of people have tried to break 300bhp on a k04 and failed.

If you want a less aggressive smoother code then Apr comes highly recommended and maybe speak to Star as well who have an excellent reputation north of the border.

I personally don;t have an LCR anymore and I have no affiliation with any tuners.....what I will say is that there is a LOT of BS spoken about custom remapping versus generic.....on a stage 1 remap (which is what you are having) most 'custom' remaps are a 'tweaked' base map. Lets not forget you car IS a generic SEAT and it came with a generic map from the factory ;)

Hmm
APR sounds good too, especially with 6 hr trial rigged and ability to rig up to cruise!

Where can i get a trail? Im in cardiff.

pembroke or taunton do the apr trials, apr has different power delivery to revo, I had apr trial then revo and went for revo as liked the power delivery better, dont get me wrong apr is o.k but different power delivery, enjoy whatever you go for, cheers
