Ordered a new leon last Friday. My first car in 8 years

I really wanted as much punch for my money so I ordered the fr tdi 2.0 184 with tech pack

None in the country so it's a factory build with a big wait! Around 12 weeks

Is It worth the wait, over the 150 which is readily available?

As a 184 owner I'd say definitely worth the wait over a 150. Not only does it have the extra power but it drives differently. The 184 has a lot more punch. Plus it's got the bigger brakes and the independent rear suspension.

I have the 150. You could get hit by a bus in the 12 weeks of wait. Life is too short.

I must say that I have never put my foot down in my FR and thought "not enough power".

I wouldn't say no to a 184 but I wouldn't pay lots of money extra or suffer a 3 month wait if 150 available today.

Note: I may be a little envious so take all of above with pinch of salt if you like!

Don't overlook the current issue with front parking sensors , which Seat have stealthily removed from the list......

look - it's 12 weeks.
You've been without a (new?) car for 8 YEARS, so 12 weeks won't kill anyone.
And when you get it - it's a 184!
right decision Seatowl.

It isn't in the brochure I have, it's a extra

As long as you are aware, a few on here have had a nice shiny FR turn up, expecting it to have front sensors only to find the crafty Spaniards have deleted them ......

But I am excited......yeah it's been a while due to health issues but I'm really looking forward to it,
Your it's a 184. Comment made me happy

Yes mate, right decision. You can never have enough power...... it is addictive though.... :D

I waited 10 weeks for my 150. :)

Tested the 150 and 184 back to back and (in test-drive conditions) didn't notice the extra power, different rear suspension or bigger brakes of the 184. The 150 is a lovely engine and suits the car really well, but then the 184 is rather nice too.

To be brutally honest, neither is going to set the road on fire, but then neither is the Cupra - I suppose it's what you are used to.

Another with subdued 184 envy ...like myself.

12 week wait is important:

1. check here, see posts about problems, rattles etc and get more and more paranoid
2. plan extras
3. check here, see posts about problems, rattles etc and get more and more paranoid
4. agonise about your choice of engine, colour, etc etc
5. check here, see posts about problems, rattles etc and get more and more paranoid
6. find out Seat have changed the spec without telling anyone
7. check here, see posts about problems, rattles etc and get more and more paranoid

I agree, the Cupra feels no quicker than my work 140 diesesal Passat, and I often get overtaken by milk floats , bicyclists and such like, to such an extent I am considering trading it in for a Gee Whiz......

Get a 150 and you'll spend the rest of your time with the car wondering "what if".
But not the other way around...

I think you'll find white vans and Golf's are the quickest.

Cupra's pretty fast (ok, very fast). It's a stonking car and I'd love one (perhaps next...). I just shouldn't have turned up to the test drive in the TVR :)

Don't forget holiday rentals . The 3 cyl polo I had in Lanzarote would outstrip a Veyron.... probably..... :D
TVR? Yes , I can see why you'd think the Cupra was slowish....... :)

I test drove the 150 and thought it was decent quick , quick enough to make me think the 184 must be great, I ordered a 184 without test driving one, the torque and low end shove is addictive!

I waited about 12 weeks for this....worth it
