Not booked yet and undecided on days and camping so not sure on a convoy but if we are feel free
If the weather is good this year i may chuck a pair of slicks in

Was very nicely allowed a few hours on the ramp again today to do the track rod ends
Started ok, up in the air and wheels off then it went down hill very fast.
Undoing the locknuts on the rods i manged to break the spanner, so after a quick phone call a very helpful Barn popped to Halfords for me and bought over another 24mm spanner
So eventually cracked the nuts which were stupidly tight, then started on the ball joints on the ends which started to undo then went tight.
So after cutting through to remove them, we then moved onto winding the ends off the rod and hit more problems, virtually solid so Barn took me to work to get my stilsons and heat gun
After struggling like buggery it started to move then halfway off disaster

So with an absolute tirade of abuse and throwing stuff ive had to leave the car beached until i can get some new rods tomorrow
So pissed off with this car now, everything i do seems to break or uncover more problems, could have quite easily sold it to the gypos for scrap when i left

Oh calm down you f*ckin woman! I had to face the misses when I got home :(

When these are done itll be all good, at least you didn't get the tracking done to find out its not been done! We're both having a **** time with them, wont be long and it'll be sunny evenings and blast down the country lanes mate. :) chin up.

In all honesty id lost it, if anyone would have come over and complained about the language im pretty sure i would have headbutted them.
My sister picked me up and took me home after ringing me and not understanding anything i said amongst all the f'ing

LOL... Chin up buddy, you know well like we all do it's a love/hate thing with LCR's!! :D

Like Barn says, think of the summer evening country lane blasts ;)

Saturday saw issues with supplying the track rods, Barn rang around worcester and no-one seems to hold stock of track rods for the LCR and its different rack to the other leons so wouldnt get to me until lunchtime.
So went down the unit and removed the old rods ready fro the new ones and a few pics of the new wishbones fitted

I also took this to show people how the steering rack bush is fitted, i may do a guide at some point for those who want to change it

After all this i took it to be tracked at i knew it was all assembled by guess
Ive had it set to 1.5 degrees negative per wheel, 0 toe as it is mainly a road car then castor is equal but outside OE limits
After a bit of a blast night i can confirm everything feels nice and tight again, back in go-kart feel

Glad you got it sorted in the end bud these cars have a way of making you feel like this but once done it's worth it still looks lush I want your wheels :p

Yep my other car was told he was being sold last week and now it's got a seized tensioner, alternator is ****ed and the bonnet hinge snapped!!! Bloody cars

No updates for a while apart from myself and Barn buying an A3 quattro to fix up
Also had this turn up from Issam today so i can eventually fit the last uprated engine mount

Another development was borrowing a friends unit to do some work on someone elses leon, found out it was up for rent so myself and Barn will have a little workshop/garage in the next week or so, or as i like to call it ....... man cave
Somewhere dry and light to work and can look into engine rebuild and quattro conversion properly now

The man cave sounds a good idea. What's the benefits of fitting that mount over the standard dog bone mount?

The VF one is much firmer with much smaller and stronger bushes, this gives the engine less ability to kick back and cause wheel hop but much more than a poly OE unit
I've seen some the the VW boys in the US running a solid bar as a dogbone, this seems to be a compromise and i know robdon ran VT uppers and VF dogbone after trying many variations

Good work on the MAN CAVE bud :) I'm sure you guys will get plenty of work done in there on weekends.

Glad the car is feeling good to drive again.

Fitted the VF mount yesterday in between helping neighbours fitting fence panels and moving around the Audi i saved from the scrapman
Didnt get any pics of it though, drove it today and engine does feel better
Only a tiny bit more noise in the cabin the before and almost less vibration than before
You can feel through the pedals the increased firmness and the engine kick back is notably reduced over just poly when pulling away quickly etc
