Are the Altea roof bars the same as the Leon roof bars? I've checked the SEAT website, they have different part numbers but wandering if it is the same item?

Ideas?

I will be buying a set of Leon roof bars as I have two Thule 591 bike carriers.
I used them on the Fabia with genuine Skoda roof bars.

I would stay away from the hatch mounted bike carriers as I would be worried about the stress on the roof spoiler.

I read (I think) once that seat roof bars damaged leon roofs. Is this still the case?
I would buy some Thule ones, I don't need a cycle carrier, but I would probably buy two at some point in the future. Mainly just transporting kayaks/surfboards atm.

Yes I head about the seat ones damaging the roof as well (read it in this forum a few months back),. try a search.

Get the Thule ones that hook over the 4 doors, you can get them online or at Halfords, they have a user guide there.

I'm sure the seat ones are made by thule and they are different for the leon and altea - different fitting due to different roof line......

I got the seat roof bars for my FR they are not Thule bars as I have had problems fitting my old Thule 510 cycle carriers to them, they used to be fitted to the MK 1 Leon bars via T-tracks but the new bars have an odd shape to the T-Track that stops the Thule system fitting. Seat don't carry the part in the UK and Thule was unable to support this new system as they don't make it. Had to go and buy some more cycle carriers Thule 591's as I only found this out the day before going away[:@]
