Rusty Exhaust

Hi,

Had a look using the search function but couldn't find what I was looking for. I have a 56 reg FR Tdi & i've been told that my exhaust is starting to rust in the centre section.

Does anyone now where to get a stainless steel replacement?

I'm exploring this supplier for a 3" single full lenght pipe [ no back box] waiting costs but I'm sure if we got a bulk purchase the costs would come down??

No its a DIESEL, don't have the same problem as petrol engines [been done on lots of skoda/golfs etc.

I looked under my car recently and was shocked at how rusty the exhaust was though not bad enough yet to say it was serious, were it to leak i would try for a warranty claim though i suspect an exhaust is a 'consumable' item.......

Chap @ work suggested BMC in Birmingham, said they will make it for you while you wait or you can leave it with them. So i'm gonna give that a go.

Can you give me any details on BMC? Are they an exhaust only place or do they do other things?

Are they VAG/Seat specialists, because im looking for someone in the Birmingham area to fit a reconditioned turbo for me. I want it done by someone who knows what theyre doing, but i dont want to pay dealer prices .

If you get any info on them, please let me know.

Non-Stainless Steel exhausts have always rusted on the outside.

You'll usually find however that it's corrosion from the inside from exhaust fumes / hot water vapour that eventually kills them, not a bit of surface rust on the outside.

Is there any manufacturer that makes a cat back that suits the 2.0t engine better than the other?

i have an 08 plate leon cupra and my tail pipe doesn't look to helthy! havent been under the car to see what its like!
