Hi, I have a FR with the 17in alloys. I've had the tyres changed twice, once at Kwik Fit following a puncture and once by the main dealer.

After both times I have scratching around the perimiter of the wheel. Kwik were a lot worse, in that they put 3 gauges in the alloy, but the main dealer has managed to take the paint off in places around the edge.

Is this a common problem with this particular style of alloy?

Alloys were as they came out of the factory, apart from the one kwik fit botched which I had refurbed.

Cheers
Matt

They should be able to change the tyres without damage. When they lever the tyre off they shouldn't be using the alloy to lean on, there is a bit on the machine for that.

You should have got them to check for damage before hand and then they are liable for any damage. If they won't then go elsewhere.

I fit tyres for a living and it sounds like they haven't had the machine set up properly.Only time paint flakes of the rim is either the alloy has been painted with the tyre on or its an old alloy..if you live local to me am in north yorkshire i could do them

The tyre company i use take the wheels off the car then bring them.over to me so we all agree on existing scratches or marks before they start. They know i look after my car and so they use extra care like cleaning the wheels once they go back on etc.

cheers guys, sounds like i need to find a decent place for fitting tyres. Maxitrol - thanks for the offer, but I'm located down in Hertfordshire :(

Any decent tyre fitters in herts for future ref? :)
Thanks,
Matt
