Hi everyone,

Greetings from Estonia,I am newbie here so this is my first post.

I own Seat Altea 1,9 TDI 2007. The car has stayed for 3 months and now when it´s winter i started to drive with it again. Now i have noticed that after a little driving TSC/ESP light will appear to dashboard (car with S road underneath). The light will be constantly, not blinking. ABS is still working then, but i think TSC will not. After i start the car again, the light is gone, but will be back soon after some driving.

I tested it with Bosch tester and it showed error code 042 - altarnatror charging too low. I tested alternator and it was OK (14.4 V). Bosch didn´t show any problems with ABS, TSC, ESP system.

042- means also open circuit. One of the mechanic told to check all the connections with ECU.

Here is my question, do you have any other ideas, what can cause this situation ? Where is located ECU ? Where is located ABS/TSC/ESP central system ?

Thank you in advance !

Madis

Hi Madis,

though it's only links to a german SEAT board, I hope you'll be able to get the information there translated ... as I regard them quite useful.

Issue seems to be well known (given that yours is the same) and they discuss a more reasonable exchange of just defect parts than replacing the whole expensive ABS-ECU.

greets ... Klaus

EDIT: additional info ... location of ABS-ECU (here GOLF5) and how to unfold:

1: tear out fixation gib as far as possible
2: disconnect plug from ECU, remove cable tie securing plug to cable harness
pic#3: open/remove cover of plug (only if necessary)

Thank´s Klaus,

Now at least i know from where i should start to check the connections. I hope i don´t have this falult which demands the ABS ECU replacement.

Could somebody tell me, if they have this kind of problem which refers to falulty ABS ECU, does this TSC/ESP is lighting constantly or not ?
