I suggest you write down very carefully your greivances as regards your car and give it to the manager of the Garage. It is always best to put these things in writing and send a copy to SEAT UK as well.
I have had not much luck with SEAT UK but they should be made aware in writing off this disaster as then they should be bound to investigate.
Also I would take a credible witness with you when you go to see the manager as verbal promises are worth Jack S!!! without a witness or better still ask for his offer of repair to be put in writing. Sounds long winded but without it and if you end up in court well it will turn into the school playground with who said what.
I have been down this route with a very large SEAT Dealer and thankfully I sorted it out with help from the press which is another avenue to take if fair play dosent suceed
I wish you the best and hope someone from SEAT is reading this post and the apparent lack of customer care offered to some customers. If it wasnt for people like us they brand would not being enjoying such sucess and may sway people to change marques....

I never understood the main dealer service stuff.

Once the car is out of warranty, I do my own servicing, and use independents for any other work I can't do. As long as you file the receipts, anyone coming to look at the car should have enough common sense to realise that there is a full service history, even if there aren't stamps in the books (although it's pretty easy as long as you have a mate at a garage).

It wouldn't bother me if i turned up to a car and they said "I don't have the stamps, but I have a receipt for every service and every other bit of work carried out"

hmmmmm I know your right but at the same time there are people who want to see a dealer history most of the cars I have sold people have always wanted the dealer history if I had purchased a high mile car say 80-110k then I wouldnt bother going dealers but know after my experience I think I wont ever use the main dealer and will also advise all my family and friends to do the same I suggest we all do the same thing and tell everyone to be extra cautious with the stealers as they are getting worse [:@]

Stealers ain't getting worse they have always been that way

The hole reason there like it is due to paying the fitters bonus pay so there for they rush there jobs to get better money That's also why they can advertise jobs as grate rates of pay because if u get a lot of bonus ( rush and bodge) time u get a hell of a wage bump with no bonus at all in a year they would only erm about 14000 a year.
Bonus is a joke because it gives custermers a crap job for the highest price. Dealer history I worth less that the stamp in your book

Yep they will always get away with it for one sole reason warrnty claims are the only reason main stealers keep there garages open I'd find a good bal street garage in ur area to do ur work from now on but thats my opinion. Keep stealers for warrnty only

I certainly wouldnt be driving it as the old crappage of it was OK when it left here. Customer service is dying out no one takes responsibility for anything anymore, thats how you have to tackle it correctly. Some Managers would be delighted if you told them to ram their Garage up their A!!! and he could walk away from it and make you out as a raging thug.
Calm and collective is the answer and believe me the Pen is mightier than the sword when it comes to problem solving. How do I know being their and done it both ways, and the only one that won when I lost the head was the Garage older and wiser now thankfully.

Feel for you mate. Got to agree with all the above about everything being in writing and having witnesses to conversations.

Just stand your ground dude and you'll get whats owed to you in the end!

In my experience it's not just car dealers, it's any company of that size! I've had various problems with other very large companies and they always try it on because they know most people will lay down and take it!

Right .. I picked up my car yesterday and test drove it before hand it seems to drive as it use again.

I had a chat with the manager and explained everything but they denied causing any damage to my bumper or aircon. They said as a form of compensation they will contribute towards the bumper repair and fit the aircon rad free of charge now the thing is I dont mind paying towards the bumper repair as it needs a paint job anyway due the amount of stonechips it has however Im not so keen on paying towards the aircon as I am very certain it wasnt caused by me and that the fault was caused whilst in the dealership I drove my car to the dealer with my aircon working.

They have also agreed to replace the cam cover which was cracked but didnt have much to say about the scratches in my engine bay which could have been prevented and didnt really have much to say about my car being driven 10 miles and the fuel being dropped from 75 miles to 30 miles which means it must have been driven hard for them 10 miles or the fuel wouldnt have dropped so significantly.

I would like the dealership to compensate me and provide some sort of extended warranty for the engine as the level of work was just not satisfactoy they shouldnt have people working on cars that cant handle the work. The whole experience has really upset me and changed my views on SEAT as a whole.

What can I ask for in compensation ?
Do you think them fitting an aircon rad which is supplied by me, them contributing towards front bumper paint job and replacing my cambelt cover makes up for messing up my timing, damaging front bumper, damaging aircon, damaging cam cover, paint scraped off around engine mount area, car being driven 10 miles and 40 miles fuel missing and last but not least all the trouble and stress this whole eperience has caused me ?

tell them to fix everything free of charge, apart from the bumper. Or else they can compensate you in monies and you shall take it somewhere else to be fixed because you don't trust them.

What a load of Tosh,Compensation My A!!!,If they didnt damage your bumper no way would they pay,Fitting AC unit aswell they are taking the P!!!. I would ask him for his thoughts on the damage in writing as I said in my previous posts you have to tackle this correctly. If you can prove the damage was done by them start small court proceedings against them quite cheap to do.

COME ON SEAT GET WITH THE PROGRAM AND GIVE YOUR CUSTOMERS SOME SUPPORT.

The service manager is talking out of his backside! Why would a dealer offer to fit / pay part of the cost of parts, if they didn't cause the damage!

You eithe did or didn't! Dealers are not in the market to carry out work for free! You shouldn't be out of pocket for their mistakes.

Keep a record of everything that has been said and put in writing a complaint to Seat. If still no joy, go down the small court claims, email Watchdog (cc Seat in), name & shame on owner forums!

Hopefully it's at a different dealer that I mentioned..... if it is..... Good luck, as you'll need it!
