Hello everyone. Newbie here :)

Have been a VW man since I've been driving owning various Polo's and a B3 Passat. Unfortunately I went over to the Japside last year and got an Isuzu Trooper...

Anyway recently bought a 2000 X reg Seat Ibiza 1.4 cool/s for my girlfriend after convincing her it'll be far better than her Fiat Seicento which was rubbish.

However having owned it less than a week I think I may be wrong :(

Got a few niggly bits fixed and a full service when first picked it up. But current problems include...

Heater Blower direction knob doesn't work and it's stuck on blowing out the face directiion vents.
Heater doesn't work
Outside temperature indicator is constantly showing '--'
I'm pretty sure the radiator fans aren't coming on and it is eating coolant.

Last night she said the battery light came on the dash and the headlights/wipers/elec windows stopped working but other electrics were ok... however 10 minutes later after being stopped they all came back on.

Oh and should these have Remote central locking as standard?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Phil

Stupid question have you tried turning the heater know the other way ? Stupid I know but I catches some people out
The outside temp sensor is a cheap easy fix and maybe has something to do with the heaters not working
Also check the fuses on top of the battery as these are prone to failure

Sorry forgot to mention the far right 30a fuse on the top of the battery controls the fans and air con fans

Thanks Tom. It turns within the normal range and clicks once - but the click doesn't make any difference

Mmm does it warm up ok up to 90' ? Just thinking either coolant temp sensor or stat if not have you plugged her in yet to see if there are any under lying faults ?

Plugged it in other day. both diag machine and dash gauge read around 90 degrees... then the diagnostic went up to 96/97 and the expansion tank went mad and water came boiling out...
There was an error code for the engine coolant temp sensor so I replaced it... but it did already have a green one I was expecting the old faulty black ones...

just read the Poll topic in the FAQs on the fuse problems... bugger me :scary:

New waterpump sorted most problems!... did the cambelt too as it was due

door lock was broke too but I sorted that with some parts off a 6n Polo :)
