Thought I'd start a build thread post pics and progress and all that and hopefully get some help and info along the way.
I basically started off with mk2 golf 1.8gl and converted that to a 2.0ltr abf on k-jet . It was my first project and learnt a lot.
It ended looking like this
Then took it off the road and started a 1.8t build but realised it was going to be a shed load of money. Sold the car and was left with a 1.8t engine .
Spoke to a mate who offers me his project that he was on the process of doing . An imperial blue seat ibiza cupra she'll with 75000 miles on it.
Ended up buying it with the gearbox for £800.
all I had to do was put my engine I already had In and drive it.
But that didn't happen .
A few months later the same friend told me he wasn't going ahead with a project he was doing instead of the ibiza which was seat lean Brit car shell with 4wd and around 450-500bhp .
And said if I wanted to but the engine off him which had been rebuilt and came out of the ibiza originally .
Spec is.
1.8T JE Pistons / IE Rods Combo- 82.5mm Bore, 8.5:1 CR
4 Cylinder VW Calico Coated Race Main Bearing Set +.001" Clearance
4 Cylinder VW Calico Coated Race Rod Bearing Set
VW 18T Head Stud Kit - With tool (204-4104)
ARP 1.8T Main Stud Kit (06a LATE 1.8t)
ARP Crank Damper Bolt for 06A Late 1.8T (IE Exclusive) 1.8t 20v Performance Valve Spring Set with Titanium Retainers
1.8t 20v Performance Valve Set
Inconel upgrade
Overbore Cylinder Head Gasket Set for 1.8t 20v
Siemens Deka 630cc Injector- High Impedence
Fuel Rail Spacer Kit for 1.8t 20v Engines
ARP Heavy Duty VW Audi Flywheel Bolt
I got a right bargain and only paid £1500 for an engine that cost my mate best part of £6000 to have built.
I didn't want silly bhp through the front wheels and to be honest couldn't afford a big turbo so decided on a ko4. It would give me more than enough power for what I need and still be good fun.
Managed to swap my existing 1.8t with a full k04 set up and had it all fitted by j-tech automotive who built the engine in the first place.
Then cleaned the engine bay up a little.
Got rid of most of the grease.
And most recently I've bought these.
As it stands that's as far as I've got. Time and money slowing things up but I'm looking forward to the coming months before I can fin sly drive the thing.
Thanks for looking
Craig.
