I know this might sound like a daft question, but what is connected to the opposite end of the little pipe that fastens to the EGR valve?

non return valve... Its a little plastic round valve that works as a one way pressure relife i assume! Car shops sell em for a quid or so if you lost it!

Ok, I've read on here that you can use a grub screw to disable the EGR valve by putting it into the pipe going into the valve, I take it that isnt the right pipe?
Just wanted to see if the valve is knackered before I buy a new one.

Dont think that would do anything as the egr is a live read for the ECU... car take a lot of info from it to run efficently...?? Not sure tho lots of diesel lad remove them but you probably need a resistor to tell the engine its still there but not (if you get me!?)

Take it down to you local garage and get them to read the live data from the EGR they will tell you if its shot... only be 10-20 for a read or carb cleaner the egr (it will gunk up agian tho)see if it helps
