Seat Leon Cupra Dump Valve advice

Just bought a Seat Leon Cupra (180).
Ive been told thats it best to get re-circ dump valve rather than an atmospheric 1.
Is this true? And any suggestions to which dump valve i should buy? Would prefer a louder 1.

welcome to the site! :) you've been correctly informed, atmospheric dump valves don't work on the 1.8T. if you want the whoosh then you can either buy the split-R from forge which is both a re-circ and atmos valve or get a forge 007P re-circ valve with a decent air filter fitted....... you should still be able to hear some DV noise.

the whooshy DV question has been asked THOUSANDS of times before. using the search facility at the top of the page would have prevented all the sarcastic comments that you will probably end up getting.

hi Steffy,

the forge 007P (p for piston) is a very popular diverter valve on here.
About £85 i think but there are many sold second hand (when people sell on cars etc) and they have a lifetime warranty...

Recirculation valves are recommended for cars with MAFs ( this is the airflow sensor just after the airfilter) which the 1.8 has. Therefore stick with that.

The valves that are loud are generally atmospheric diverter valves, so the air is dumped rather than diverted into the inlet. This are often called BOVs or blow off valves. Many people have used these ok on their leons, many have not (fault codes etc) and the consensous is even when they run ok they could lead to unseen adaptive issues. (ecu may adapt the fueling to the figures from the airflow sensor which are no longer corect as the BOV is not recirculating the air as the ECU expects.
Hope this makes sense.

Forge do a split R which is mostly a recirulating valve and dumps a small proportion to try and get the sound without the issues. - Personally for the extra money (about £95 more than the 007P) you would be better off getting the 007P and a nice induction kit which usually makes the diverter sound louder.

Yeah but why would anyone want their car to sound like an articulated lorry??

Mine has got proper loud with my mods. Alot of the time its not actually the valve that makes the noise but the sound passing through the silicone hoses.

I know what you mean though;)

Have just read all info about why atmospheric valves are a no-no, so will be going for 007p. Have done a search for a video [ pref with smoothed air-box and panel filter], but to no avail...has anyone got a link, pref drive-by

Cheers, Kev

ive got the bailey ... cant honestly say its any louder.

but my set up is different and im running a standard airbox so it could be louder.

some guys were talking about drilling holes in the standard airbox.. to increase noise.. not sure if it would affect dumping noise.

have a read through this

excuse the banter steffy... once youve been on here a while youll notice this subject comes up alot... lol

lag between gears increased 2 fold and when put back to full recirc its still not quite right and trust me jbs adjusted it when they did my ihi kit and told me just how shite it was and i should just get a 007p with a yellow spring.
I can see why forge made this valve as there was great demand for it and it does exactly what it says " woosh sound with no fault codes " ( if set up right ) but they forgot to tell you that the recirc kept the turbo spinning between gears and reduced lag so by venting this presure to atmosphere you are killing the lag reducing system and trust me when you go big turbo this is egsadurated ALOT.
So to summerise its good for noise but WILL slow you down so its your choice, if you are out there running a split r in part atmos i will ask you to take your car for a raz then swop to full recirc and tell me the car isnt alot smoother AND quicker.
