I dont know why some people are getting on this guy's case about the MPG question and suggesting LCR isnt the car for him..

Sounds to me like he's just trying to make out whether that is normal MPG for an LCR or if there is something wrong with his car.

38+ on a run once warmed up.

30ish country drive mixed driving.

20-26 around town depending on how warmed up it is.

Takes 20mins or more for the oil in an R to fully warm up by the way. I don't boot it until my oil gauge starts to move off of 50 odd degrees on the gauge and starts to rise sharply. Sadly if you do short journeys it'll never warm up enough for decent mpg.

I just travelled from south wales to manchester and was getting 28mpg. Not bad for a car running approx 260 bhp really . Thats at 70-80mph

I do London to South Wales once a month and I normally see between 35-38mpg on a bog standard LCR.

tell me about it.i passed my test in 2003 at 17 petrol then was at its lowest point i remember was 76p a litre................thats right 76p how mad
i remember they say ohhh no petrol cant hit a £1 a litre didgets on the pump cant go over that haha.
i remember filling up my 9yr old metro ..... lol,and filling up was like if you put in a tenner i got back like 15 litres or so it was very good.some times i use to worry when it hit 80p god i wish we were just down to 99p a litre

Too right!!

£20 of petrol @ £1.30 gets me 100 miles. Mixed driving!

I see around 30 mpg average (29.7 as we speak and nearer 33 in warmer weather) and that's with ample amounts of booting interspersed with normal driving.

Why people are bashing you for worrying about mpg I don't know. You can drive it hard when you want and normally when you don't fancy it. I don't thrash mine around everywhere... Just because you have a bit of power under the right foot doesn't mean you have to drive it balls to the wall everywhere. It's nice just to have the power and drivability when you want it.

It's nice to have the overtaking grunt but will still do 38-40mpg on long sensible runs.

My old LCR always used to end up around 27mpg on a long term average over hundreds/thousands of miles, no matter what combo of motorway/A roads and the odd bit of town driving...

My new one is ridiculously thirsty - I was seeing under 30mpg cruising at 80 on the motorway last night, at 60 it was struggling to reach 35mpg... I think there's something wrong somewhere! Can anyone else give figures for cruising at these two speeds to compare? I'm sure I used to see more like 32-35 at 80 and pushing into the 40s cruising at 60, or am I wearing rose tinted glasses?

Tbh anything above 33 you should be happy with. I have only owned mine through the winter so cannot comment on summer figures. To work which is bang on 20 miles, 10 miles motorway 10 miles A road at 30-50mph speed limits the highest I have got at rush hour times is 39mpg but peaked at 41mpg, through the cold snap i struggle to get 36-37. Thats driving at 60mph and fairly carefully.

id say thats about right at 60mph you will get between 32/36 say, ive never got no more than that.but then when you move into the 80 mph then its another story i find.......if petrol was 99p a litre thought i dont even think we would think twice at how much mpg we get.......evos arejust a joke on petrol and as for supras.......

To be honest i would be really happy with 80 miles off £20 but i havent ever seen that, My friends TT 225 was getting 80+ miles off £20 and said it got up to about 30mpg and considering we have the same engine and his is 4WD surely something aint right, would a service help my fuel figures? im not moaning about the fuel im just saying seems abit too odd getting 65ish off £20 when R32's can get better

Out of interest i thought i would calculate my MPG myself as dont really believe the computer, i done,
2000/Litre cost = 2000/130=15.38 litres, 15,38/Gallon 4.55=3.38, Then you do your miles divide by 3.38
If i done 80miles/3.38=23.6mpg, which my computer shows around that but i still dont even get 80miles? its like late 60's 70

Im only 18 so petrol really is going to bug me

You're having a laugh right? You seriously expect to be able to calculate MPG more accurately than your trip computer going off how far you get from £20??

All this 'I can do so many miles to £10 / £20' is absolute sh!t unless you are working backwards from what mpg you KNOW your car to be returning.

There's a reason that economy is quoted using MPG not pence per mile...

It wasn't even hitting low 30s at 60, and at 80 we were talking about 26... I've found the problem though, now my vac leak is sorted I am back on normalish figures - 80mph is pretty much bang on 30mpg on a long run from Yorkshire to Somerset and sitting at 60 slipstreaming behind lorries I can start hitting mid 40s (remember that hills make a huge difference to MPG so to get an accurate reading you need to be going a good few miles to average it out a bit or know the road is completely flat).
