Seat Leon - Loss of Power

I have a problem with my Seat Leon 1.9tdi (53)

When I start the engine, and it is idling, it is juddering and feels like it wants to stall.

When I am driving around, I feel a severe loss of power and when trying to accelerate I get a pause before it wants to pull away.

I have an engine ECU remap 2 years ago and all was well, the problem comes and goes but lately is always there. It stems from a crash I had a little under 2 years ago where the front passenger side was smashed in. It was fully repaired but has never felt the same since and the last month the car feels really bad. When I pull out of a junction, the car feels like it wants to stall, pauses and then pulls away and if I put my foot down, I get a blow of dark smoke out of the back.

Anyone any ideas ? A few garages look at it and no-one can help. I am hoping someone here may be able to help ? I have no experiance with cars so be gentle with me !

It has been plugged in and no fault codes are shown.

if you say it has been to garages, but they say they cannot help then clearly you are taking it to the wrong garages....its not kwik fit I hope

Have you had VAG Com run on it at all?

if it is running this badly, then I would be very surprised if no fault codes are showing up

what remap are you running?

does the car run really rough when trying to drive.....sounds like it might be one of the coil packs that have gone, but this should show as a cylinder misfire (if the proper diagnostic tools are run this should show up)

you need to go to a proper VAG specialist to get it investigated

whereabouts in the country are you and I can direct you to specialist near you

I am in Deal in Kent. Are there any VAG people around here ? It definately is not right but noone can diagnose the problem ?

Hi i have a seat leon 1.8 20v t!
And it has been doing the same for a few weeks now!
Have you managed to sort yours? if so what was the problem as i would be greatful for any help.

loss of power

I ended up part exchanging it in the end. I found out what it is in the end. It was one of the pistons was not firing at the correct time. Yours will probably be the same, or possibly incorrect cambelt timings..... ?
