Hi All,

Sorry to be covering this issue again as I've seen it covered many times before. When I did a search I saw that people were paying around 80-120 pounds for the first service, I have a Leon Sport 2L TDi that's coming up to its first year service at the end of may. I've done 4400 miles in it so far.

I'm in north london and I have a seat garage at the end of my street so I give them a call and was told the first service was an oil change and an inspection and that'll be £208. I thought that was pretty expensive so I tired the next easiest to get to seat garage which is further out of london and I was quoted even more, £224.29. (both inc vat)

That just seems a rip off to me for an oil change and to run through a check list, anyone got any suggestions/comments. I'd travel up the M1 a bit to get a more resonable price.

Cheers.

My first service was £120.

My second 20,000 is being done next week and will be £178 inc VAT and parts

Robinsons SEAT Lowestoft.

Other guys are right. you dont need to go to a seat dealer to get the work done, just a VAG specialist who uses the correct parts.

I saved about 40% off the average price when I took my smart car to a specialist and not the dealer.

Just make sure they are proper or your warranty will be voided, just ask when you call the specialist.

Thanks everyone, I just called Letchworth Seat they quoted £185, they said I need the inspection service each year. So £200 ish from a seat garage sounds spot on to me.

Time to get some quotes from a non seat garage I think.

Full (insert car make) Service History I don't think makes as much difference these days with this new anti-competition laws introduced. I'd be happy knowing that it has a full service history whether it was from manufacter or from an indy.

Apart from Kings Seat Pompey or Helix Essex I wouldn't take my car to a dealer.

Does anyone know where you stand with the warranty if I were to have my car serviced outwith the stealers. I know there is a 2 year manufacturers warranty and a one year dealership warranty to cover the third year.

What I want to know is would I still be covered for the 3rd year of my warranty from the dealer if I were to have my car serviced elsewhere?

Thanks

fao mathanio. I take it you've had good service from Kings Seat in Portsmouth then? Personally I was not too impressed with the quality of the PDI carried out on my car. I have heard they are good though so maybe I was just unlucky on this occasion. Like to know though as it will help me decide whether to to take the car there for its first service.
