Can anyone help me please.

Just before Christmas i had what i would call a rocking sensation under my feet when driving up the link road... of course hubby thought i was mad, until he drove it himself to work 40 miles away and realised that when he put the engine under load the car shook/juddered but disappeared when he took his foot off the accelerator.
cut a long story short..
took it to first mechanic... was told a dodgy tyre
took it to second .... was told gear box
took it to third... was told flywheel and because this guy had worked for Seat for years i took his advice and got the flywheel done.

Now 3 weeks later, the same thing is happening again, i am at the end of my tether and £700 worse off as today was told by another Seat specialist that it was the inner cv joint only to find when my hubby stripped the car down and looked, there was nothing wrong at all with the cv joint on there. (just hoping i get my money back on the new boxed one i have here)

please help, my funds are now low as well as my patience !!

Its a Alhambra 1.9 diesel 2004 model

Hi Mj,

Thank you for your reply, just asked hubby and he said they looked fine.

I feel so gutted at the moment, i love my Alhambra but it is just going all worng.

the aux heater thingy has also gone wrong and we have now looking for the glo plug that no one seems to have.

The other day the juddering/shaking was only happening at the speeds of 50-70mph, over and under that it was fine. also seemed to have got worse once car has been running for about 15 minutes. Unfortunately today its doing it from the off.

Yep, they are and we have changed them around the car too.

I'm a pain i know !

could be many things contributing to the fault but anything i say would be a stab in the dark.

drive shafts or the inner tri-piece cv joints would be high on the list, looking at them will yield nothing - its a case of trial and error.

Okey doke, well thank you for your help, much appreciated.

Looks like i may have to bite the bullet and get a garage to take it in again and do some serious looking.....

I think I have the same fault

Did you manage to find out what the problem was?

I'm having the same experience...
A violent judder under acceleration especially between 40-60mph.
Definitely some shake at 20-40 mph as well.
Shaking lessens/stops when not accelerating

Advice from two garages was pothole damage, balancing and at least two square wheels.
Have changed all the wheels but the problem still remains.

:help:

hi, have you looked at the engine mounts  or even the anti rollbar link bars or could be some bushes that are worn and knocking a bit. i had pretty much the same but i did all of the above and loads better now. :)

Hi All
My Alhambra Has got rid off the shakes it was the left side Drive Shaft :funk:.
Its just got a new M.O.T so all is Good With the Alhambra This is a great car .

Hi,

No one has replied to my drive shaft post but your symtoms sound similar to mine. does it judder when setting off/riding the clutch. if so then its the rubber anti vibration coupler on the drive shaft, im just waiting on an answer as to why all the pics ive seen look different tp mine.

check for movement in the shaft both 'back forth and up/down' should be tight no play at all!

Hi Angrywife,
My Alhambra seems to be suffering from the same symptoms, did you ever find out what the cause was?

is it still ongoing? i have the same shakes at 40-50... but some days worse than others. had timing checked and wheels moved from front to back but still evident!!! sooooo expensive to get to the bottom of this issue!!!! it must be a common fault with alhambras and surely seat know whats going wrong by now!!!
