so first day of the Half term Holidays and rather than leave it until later in the week I decided to crack on with some of the work for the Sharan
Job One - Reverse Sensors
Before
Clear mask on and Marked out
Drilled
Fitted - Just need wiring
Job Two - Continental mirror glass (built in overtaking mirror) to replace cheap ebay glass used to replace broken glass(you get what you pay)
Pics to follow.
Can anyone confirm if the Reverse lights should go off when the tailgate is raised?
Our Sharan Reverse Lights go off when the tailgate is lifted.
Trying to find out if we may have a wiring issue in the tailgate.
EDIT : solved and found the answer to my question
no the lights should not go off when the tailgate is lifted - removed the offside cable cover to find
not good - all the wire seem to brittle and the shielding has split on most of them I have soldered the reverse wire back together and insulated all the others for not going to see if there is a loom available for this.
Well the dirty deed is done - car does respond to throttle quicker and seems to have increased torque - judged by the way the car climbed a local hill today.
Had a cooling/ heating problem - Car would overheat very quickly if driven hard and blow out coolant from expansion bottle. If not driven hard car would not blow warm air into cab at all.
Today had the Waterpump changed along with Timing belt and Tensioner - glad to say all sorted.
Next on list replace near side drop link and wishbone then trip to Cardiff for De-Cat and stainless front to back.
replaced both nearside and offside wishbones, bottom ball joints and drop links with the aim of removing a clunk - guess it was none of these as it is still there
