shock knackered?

how would you know or what would be a good tell tale sign that a shock is knackered?

squeaking?

is this a new shock or can they be refilled, i think im still on standard shocks and im lowered 40 mm front and back?

you may hear a knocking noise not sure about a squeek and it will be very bouncy on the corner where the shock is nackered, my front offside one has gone and its scary to drive it. wil be a new shock job and i think as is the same with springs you should replace both sides e.g. both front or both rears

one of my shocks was worn the mot guy told me it had light misting of oil so i guess they leak and start getting noisy,

yea the shock will have oil on it as well if its broke
